Mama used to have a saying. She said sometimes I'm blue and sometimes I'm green. She said it's ok to feel blue or green, they are both colors. My poor mama had many such philosophies and I really took them for granted until recently. Lately, I sometimes wake up and feel blue. Why do I feel blue? Oh who knows? When a woman goes through the change, tons of things shift and drift and chemicals collide and hormones dance throughout the body. We can wake up blue four days in a row and then suddenly have a green day. I love it when I have a green day. Also, when one loses a parent, everything is blue for a long time. I know mama's up there laughing at me right now but I've been blue since she left. She's probably saying get over it and enjoy life -I'm finally having a purple day!
We are all affected by color. Usually bright vivid colors make us happy and cheer us up. Dull and drab colors kind of depress us. Red warms us. Think about that wonderful fire burning or watching coals turn red. Good feeling, huh? Now, Blue is a cold color. It is soothing but when one says they feel blue - maybe it's because they feel a little cold. Green is a color that harmonizes us. Go drive around the countryside and see how wonderful you feel looking at all the green trees. Now, yellow isn't one of my favorite colors but I've heard that if you want brilliant conversation in your living room for instance, paint it yellow! It is a mental stimulant.
However, now lets get to my favorite color of all which is violet or purple. I have loved this color since I could barely walk. I always wanted everything I had to be purple. I now realize that the violet cosmic ray controls the crown chakra in the head and is linked to the pituitary gland, which is the center of intuitive and spiritual understanding. So, this season, I'm going to try to not feel too blue or even too green. I'm going to concentrate more and more on feeling purple. I bet I'll be smiling more! Salud!

I understand what you're going through, but I love how you are trying to talk yourself, and others into a more postive frame of mind by relishing in the various colors of the season.
Since purple is just a combination of blue and red -- I wish your "blues" away because you have always been such an uplifting person to me, that I can't imagine you any other color but the "warmth of red" ... Salud, my friend!
I find that I wake up blue a lot. I'm thinking maybe I will put up a poster or something with some bright warm colors in my bedroom so I can focus on that when I wake up blue.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
That's a good thing. It means there was a lotta love shared. A lotta wisdom given. Time to make memories. Although the mind stores the times, the heart stores the feeling. Through the good and the bad.
She is smiling at you. You are smiling back at her when you remember.
Smile through your tears. It's like the rainbow that glimmers after the showers.
Lots of love, light, and blessings~Mama T
Thank you for posting this.
I lost my Grandmother in late 2004, it brought many blue days.
She is probably right there with your mom telling me the same thing- to get over it and enjoy life.
Here's to many green & purple days in our futures.
May your days always be purple and your thoughts as sweet as maple surple (I think I'm borrowing this from an old Roger Miller tune, bless his soul).
Beautiful thoughts for a Tuesday in search of rainbow.
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
So here's ole Roger and "Dang Me"...
They say roses are red and violets are purple
Sugar is sweet and so is maple surple
Well I'm the seventh out of seven sons
My pappy was a pistol
I'm a son of a gun.
Sounds like he was also a fan of purple!
The beat goes on,
Colonel Possum
Miz Lynn, I once had a purple bedroom but I somehow wanted it to be white again - what was wrong with me - it took me loads of Kiltz to paint over it!
Joy, what a lovely comment and I'm so sorry about your Grandmother - Yes, they are both up there in their own Gather Heaven! Thank yall for commenting! Nathan and William - enjoyed seeing both of you! Cecile, yes align them again, I should do the same thing at the end of the year to prepare for the next year! Dear Mama T, you are also one of my favorites and yes, indeed I miss mama but she's still around and yes, I feel her near me quite a bit - she protects me! Miz Clare, I send you love and light back and bless you for your beautiful colorful and kind words! SAlud,
Unfortuately, my favorite color is blue & I like green next-to-least (only yellow is worse), so I guess maybe I need to take this post in reverse!
It's a good thing that I'm marrying a Polack! Now I won't be the only one who is bass-ackwards!
Anyway - may colors of violet shower your days and hues of red warm your soul!
Julian, good wishes always go back to where they come from - so your days will be equally coloured! Thank you for a lovely comment - I truly love good comments as much as I love to read the articles! Violet Eyes - oh dear - I want to hear the story even if you make some of it up! Salud,

Ah... purple, the color of royalty, too...
Stay purple, Mariana!
And in a way I feel like blue is actually a calm, soothing color because when it's a beautiful day the sky is usually blue and the ocean is blue..god how I love the beach(:
I think of a cold day more as..Gray..
