Why My Chihuahua Loves Gather

My Chihuahua, Loquita, believes that her life has improved since the Colonel joined Gather earlier this year. She spends a lot of time in my lap when I'm logged on and from a dog's point of view that's a good thing. When the computer is turned off at night, she goes nuts and barks at a decibel level that has given Chihuahua's a fairly small fan base in the general population. The key signal for her is the Bill Gate's music when Windows 2000 goes into hibernation. Loquita must wait until the morning computer music heralds breakfast followed by a resumption of lap time.

I think this is extra special for her since she must compete for attention with my much larger dogs, Henry and Charley. A full-grown lab doesn't fit on a lap very well and she knows that. The more time the Colonel spends on Gather, the more quality time for her!

Now before Gather, I spent a fair amount of time on the computer gambling away my retirement savings at the big stock market casino. This was lap time with mood swings. Loquita knows that the chance for mid-day treats is much better when the Colonel is happy. She has noted that time on Gather results in this blissful state since Gather is generally a positive environment with nice folks and dad doesn't lose money. What could be better?

Yup, it doesn't get much better than that. My little Maggie is the same way, right here with me the whole time.
Life's little wonders are great aren't they. Rocking chairs too!

I love it..... My cat, also named Babayaga, sits either between my screen and my keyboard when I am typing comments and mesages, or on my lap. She is the only one out of four who does so. We enjoy gather together! Only occasionally she decides that she'd better sit on tot of the keyboard, or the mouse....

Chihuahuas (and mine is a mix, a big 12 pounds) have that way of getting into your heart. Pre-Loquita, I was not a fan of these little dogs; now she sleeps with me! Thank you for your thoughts.

Babayaga...what a wonderful name for a cat!!! Joey, my deaf cat, likes to lay on the monitor and chases the little mouse arround the screen with his paw. Loquita is jealous of Joey.

My dog, Smokey, is huge -- 83 lbs -- and not particularly affectionate. She will greet us joyfully every day and loves skritches, but isn't one to cuddle or snuggle. While I'm on Gather, she usually sits nearby as a bodyguard and watches over her domain. (The best nights are when she has a bone to gnaw, too.) She likes to listen, so I read her all the funny comments and posts I come across -- she laughs.

Well, as soon as Hummer gets his little family jewels removed, he can be a lap kitty - he has a habit of always running to the computer and watching the movements but then he gets down and lifts his tail on my desk leg. I hope he hasn't gotten too used to being a boy. Anyway, good article,Colonel. Loquita is beautiful - great picture! Salud,

Oh I love that big Smokey! Give that good girl a few pats on the head..or better yet skritches (funny, we call them skrunchies here at the OHC). Henry is kind of like that, a big ole bear and you don't mess with bears! Smokey sounds like a much better listener. Henry the Bear once told me that we could have much better conversations if I had a more developed sense of smell.

Colonel, My big ole moose kitty Zoe, likes to sit right beside the mouse, so she gets lovin' every time thec mouse gets nudged, and GIzmo or Booger vye for the coveted lap space.

I don't know what the backside of the mix is: rat terrier? I do know that Loquita can go from zero to sixty in about 5 seconds which I think far exceeds the pure Chihuahua. She also doesn't tremble and takes no prisoners. Even though she's a little girl, Loquita lifts her leg with the big male labs. They are all black and I bought her a red collar so she could be a "pygmy black lab."

I just spent 10 days trying to type from beneath my sister's lab/greyhound mix. It's so nice to be back home where my Woody knows his place is on the floor!

Eclectic taste in doggie's, Colonel. From the tiny to the great. Though not bto make the labs feel deprived, maybe you should try them on your lap while on Gather once in a while.

I have a black lab (wolf?) mix named Cerano laying by my chair as I type. Truthfully, I think he'd rather go outside with me. He keeps looking up with those brown eyes as if to say, "Get off your duff and take me for a walk!"

Aw! That's nice Colonel. I'd keep Angel on my lap, but she always wants to slather her little tongue up my neck and onto my face, which makes it really hard to see the screen, let alone the keys. She's a real lovey one, that's for sure. I just have to take breaks every so often, so she doesn't forget how much she's loved.

There is something to be said for the small dogs. We have a lab and a yorkie, quite the mix but it works out well. The yorkie, Dublin, is so cuddly he is hard to resist.
