Thank you all for coming to Gather's first Fourth of July Picnic hosted by the Old Hippies Corner (OHC) and known now as GATHERSTOCK 2006 !
I hope you all had as much fun as the ole Colonel! The event spanned 24+ hours although I must admit I wasn't totally conscious over that entire period!
I think the happiest thing for me was the fun with everyone and I believe it reaffirms that Gather can be a very positive and creative environment. In over 200+ comments there was never a negative word or thought. There were 36 articles posted and Ludolf Grolle de Rochefort, Carl S., and Bill's Spirit created some really far out posters for the event.
Please check out the links to images, posters and articles below…

Thank you! Ludo was THE party animal. We'll have to put another one together but for now the ole Colonel is going to kick back on the OHC porch!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
Let that horse rest up in the pasture a bit. Thanks again for coming!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
I think you saved my butt! I was fading fast and you kept up the momentum with your neat DJ work. Thanks again.
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
You were there in spirit...I saw your spirit down by the blue bayou! Thanks for posting your band report to the OHC.
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
What was the next play on the Gigantic Scrabble Board? Molly played "Queen" down on your Q in "Liquid" then she went off to the races! Glad you got your shoe back. Too bad it didn't give those rascally Korean missiles a boot (Elmer Fudd??).
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
Your breakfast was great! Thank you for dropping back by!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
yours desperately "L"
ps maybe Dolly would like to meet Dr Oza@@@
That sounds like trash talk! I'll have to give Molly equal time..I think I see a grudge match in the futue! Oh Boy...
Good luck,
Colonel Possum
That would be great, I tried to sing the "OHC Picnic Theme Song"...but it was more tequila bravdo than skill. We needed YOU!
Thanks for the kind thought,
Colonel Possum
The sheep is riding with Molly in the cab of Miss Pete. Mess with Big Molly's favorite sheep and you might get a knuckle sandwhich (and she's got some mighty big knuckles!)
Peace, Love & Happiness!
Colonel Possum
A reliable source has just told me that Molly has donned a sheep suit! Beware of Dollys coming your way!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
Hey, I enjoyed your company very much! I was looking forward to joining you for a few whacks at the painted bowling balls on the Gigantic Croquet Court! Maybe next time.
Thank you,
Colonel Possum
Thank you. You know the neat thing about having your Gather friends over is you don't need to clean up the house (of OHC Operations Center in my case!). Yeah, let's do it again!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
I think I loaded those socks into the Beam Port with Cheryl's boot! Better check with her...hmmm...maybe not!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
Thank you, Colonel
Can't wait for the next bash
Thank you for getting Tante Marie back on her chain! Stop by this afternoon for a cold one.
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
After spilling my kool-aid on a blotter, I slipped on the mushrooms and hit my head against some window-pane. The next thing I knew I was walking with a disturbing god that looked like Carl S. and sounded like Kathryn E-Oleski while visions of sugar cubes danced in my head. The "god" vanished in a fiery cackle that ended with a flagalating noise and was replaced with George C. in a tuxedo painted like a mountain scene. He was strumming a guitar and walking a glowing white road that led to a garden full of people conversing and Gathering.
Everything after that is still mostly a blur. It's good to feel terra firma under my feet again. Anyone got some cold clear spring water?
P.S. The brownies were great !!
Check out my comment in the party article. I expanded on this "CarlKEO Deity" of your wonderful hallucination!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
Thanks man. Your poster looks great on the OHC Operations Center's east wall, right over Dannielle's OHC Theme Song and Cheryl's Beam Port!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
My Mother-In-Law was the same sort of person your Mother must have been. She loved Philadelphia. She was tough, insightful, playful, serious, concerned. She loved the poetry -- sometimes sombre -- of Alfred Joyce Kilmer who was killed in action on July 30, 1918 during WWII.
Your "gathering" is so in keeping with JOYFULNESS and what life could be and so I think that extending these experiences is what will amount to 'salvation' as our blessed EARTH moves along its future path, if it is both fortunate and wise.
As a boy I too loved SOME poetry. One POEM I have never forgotten is one of Kilmer's best I think. It is somber, deep, and yet its message goes deep into one's heart. Its TITLE IS : "THE HOUSE WITH NOBODY IN IT." It has seven verses and below I send to you and to our many gather friends, only two of them: (I hope I'm not breaking copyright laws)
#1:Whenever I walk to Suffern along the Erie track
I go by a poor old farmhouse with its shingles broken and black.
I suppose I've passed it a hundred times, but I always stop for a minute
And look at the house, the tragic house, the house with nobody in it.
#3 : This house on the road to Suffern needs a dozen panes of glass,
And somebody ought to weed the walk and take a scythe to the grass.
It needs new paint and shingles, and the vines should be trimmed and tied;
But what it needs the most of all is some people living inside.
=====
There seem to be many, many folk who want to live in "your kind of "house".
Dick
Thank you for this most thoughtful comment. I have walked past this house many times. I love old neighborhoods and live in one. Old neighborhoods have abandonned houses that cry their past and beckon the passerby to fill their present. A house is a return to home and to the extent that the OHC provides a house for positive memories, I am complemented.
Thank you very much.
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
