Some of my readers have asked about the cats at the Old Hippie's Corner (OHC) Headquarters. There are presently thirteen and all are strays or descendents of strays. The Top Cat is Joey who is deaf and has his own room at the HQ. Joey can go in and out at will but all the rest of the cats live outside on the OHC porch, under the HQ or the trucks parked outside. Here are the names of the outside cats:
Morticia Black & white Matriarch (2 litters at the OHC)
Rocko 25-pound gray & white tabby
Papaya-Roo Calico (Rocko's wife)
Jocko Brown with stripes (Rocko's brother)
Penelope Calico (Papya-Roo's sister)
Irene Calico (Papaya-Roo's other sister)
Wyleena Grey & white Calico (wild woman!)
Corona Grey & white Calico (Wyllena's sister)
Ruby-Tuby Brown & black crazy lady
Boxcar Brown with black stripes (unrelated, built like a boxcar)
Stucco Marie Calico (Papaya Roo's step-sister)
Polie White bad boy tomcat (unrelated, street name "White Boy")
The cats live in somewhat peaceful coexistence with the OHC dogs. Joey's best friend is Loquita, my Chihuahua. I call them the pint sizes. Henry and Charley are litter mate black labs who hate cats (sort of) but are getting too old to really care.
I joined two wonderful cat groups lately lead by two of my favorite folks:
Jude Cowell Cat Culture
Summer Foovay My Cat Owns Me

one question - are they all fixed? i live next to a farm and have fixed over 100 in the past 7 years (with the financial help of the local animal protection league and a friendly vet).
Yes. They are all fixed (thank god!). You are a good person to do what you do. Thanks for the comment!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
It is sometimes hard to keep track of the lineage but they remind you of the attitude part every day. Thanks!
10-4,
Colonel Possum
To answer your question in a word, yes! The local feedstore loves to see the ole Colonel come in.
Thanks,
Colonel Possum
I'm gald you heard that. It was that darn Joey chasing Boxcar again. Have you posted pictures of your 3 sweethearts?
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
Bum-bum-bum-ba,
Bum-bum-bum-ba,
Cat scratch fever...
Now, I'll be bum-bum-bum-ba'ing all day long!!
Flashback!
Colonel Possum
No gophers, no mice. For some reason raccoons get along OK with cats. I had one that used to wait in line at the OHC Kitty Kat mess hall!
Thanks for your comment,
Colonel Possum
I love that expression "turnups." How do cats know how to find a good home? It must be another of their many mysteries.
Thanks,
Colonel Possum
Thank you for creating such a cool place to post kitty kat stuff! This has been a lot of fun.
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
Nice of you to drop by! I'll tell the cats that Auntie "K" said hello. Thanks again.
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
Ironically enough, your plate runneth over, and mine is sadly empty as of yesterday. Big HUGS!
Thank you. A great comment to start my Friday. Say, look for a posting to the OHC Blogo-Picnic on the Fourth. You're invited!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
They all look to be happy and healthy.
Can't be a good old hippie without having animal friends.(learned that from my dear ol' grannie, who did not consider herself a hippie, but a Southern Baptist.)
I've been looking for a picture of my other kitty, but I'm not sure we've taken any of her yet.
Cheers,Colonel.
Thanks, they ARE all healthy furr balls! I'll give them an extra pinch of Cozmic Cat Catnip just for you!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
I agree, Cozmic is cool!
