2006 was a very big year for Democrats when they took back Congress, spiking the dream of a permanent Republican majority. 2008 could be even bigger for the Dems. The war in Iraq is so unpopular. The White House looks within their grasp and so does a bigger majority on the Hill.
But what vision do Democrats bring to the battle and to governing if they win? Since the 2004 presidential campaign, the party has seen a new breed of activist. Call them the bloggers and the billionaires. All full of bile. All ready to launch a vast left-wing conspiracy. And all alienated by the Clinton centrism of the 1990s and then by President Bush.
Journalist Matt Bai has been watching as these fiery netroots and liberal moneymen have become a force. They’re changing Democratic politics. But, Matt Bai says, they’re not sure how to change the country.
Listen to an On Point discussion about the battle to remake Democratic politics.
Where should the Democratic Party head in 2008? To the left? To the center? Are you putting your faith in the netroots? Or are you worried that they’ll drive Hillary, Barack, John and the rest off a cliff?

The Madness of King George is about to come to a merciful end. Bush/Cheney's fraudulent, foolish, and futile war (along with the appalling incompetence demonstrated by Hurricane Katrina, Alberto Gonzales, ad infinitum) has antagonized the electorate to the point where they have zero interest in hearing anything about conservative "values". I hope you'll enjoy four (or eight) years of having Madame President Hillary Clinton in your face every day.
ps: Has anyone noted that the 9/11 attacks took place during our currrent administration? I guess that makes 'em credible for keeping us secure!
