Just share your summer photos and tag them with the word summerpics. For each summer photo you share, you’ll earn 10 points! It’s as easy as that. Feel free to republish pics you’ve already shared; just add the summerpics tag. Your extra Gather PointsTM will be uploaded the next day.
But wait – there’s more!
On September 5th, Gather will collect the top 10 pictures with the most views and highest ratings and enter them into a drawing for a new digital camera. The lucky winner will receive a Kodak EasyShare 8.1-megapixel digital camera, plus a 2GB digital memory card and camera case!

- Roll your mouse over the Explore tab at the top of any Gather page or visit your My Gather page
- Select "Share"
- Click on the “Share a Photo” button
- Browse to select and upload your photos; photos must be JPG format only and cannot exceed 6 MB.
- Feel free to fill in details about the photo in the “Photo Caption” box
- In the "Photo Tags" box, be sure to add the word summerpics
- Decide who can view your photos by making a selection from the "Who can view this photo" field; photos can be public or private
- Click "Submit"

I'll have to look through our photos - I know we took some nice shots over the summer.
We've had some questions regarding the participation of Gather Correspondents in this points promotion. Gather Correspondents ARE qualified to particpate. The only contests Gather Correspondents are prohibited from entering/winning are those that are editorially selected. Thanks!
Is this ONLY for those views and ratings received within the contest period? So, if they add the tag "summerpics" to an image already posted - the views and ratings already received don't count?

Pam, please clarify: Are you going with the top 10 PHOTOS or the top 10 CONTRIBUTORS? Your article says both, and let's just say Gather has burned me on this point in the past....

As Chris stated above, I believe that you must upload and tag your images during the promotion period in order to be eligible for the Grand Prize. This may also apply for the awarding of Gather Points.

- How is the highest rating being calculated?
- Are you only counting 10's as you have done in the past?
- Will the number of ratings factor into the decision? An image with a rating of 9 and 5 'votes' technically is not rated higher than an image with a rating of 8.5 and 40 votes.
- Will the views and ratings be added together to come up with an overall 'score', or will photos be ranked by rating or views with the other factor contributing as the tie-breaker?
There are multiple ways in which entries in this promotion can be scored, and it would be helpful to understand where our entries rank as the promotion progresses.Thank you!

For those wondering if you need to upload a already posted picture again, I don't think so. I've just added the tag and they all went to the same pool of old & new pics.
But it will change the Updated timestamp. ;)

Lots of great questions here. I will be sharing a post shortly answering them all in detail. In the mean time, here are some quick answers to some of the most asked questions above.
When it comes to ratings only ten stars ratings will be counted, along with unique views of your photo. The DB1's will not hurt your chances of becoming a winning contributor.
In order to qualify you must REPUBLISH your summer photo and add the summerpics tag. That's the only way we can easily determine which photos were shared during the promotion period.
Cash option - Just like previous points promotions, the points you earn in this contest will not count toward those trying for the cash option.
