Bored and not wanting to venture into the rain on Friday night, my fiance and I decided to watch an On Demand movie. For some reason, we settled on the stupid comedy, "Repli-Kate."
Our main reasons for picking it: it was free; James Roday (I LOVE him on "Psych"); Eugene Levy; it was my fiance's turn to pick.
The plot: Max (Roday) and Henry (Desmond Askew) work in a science lab of a college - their project is a cloning machine (their subjects are hamsters), in an effort to "better the world." A sexy reporter, Kate (Ali Landry of Doritos commercials fame) interviews Max for an article and gets bitten by one of the hamsters. In the process of getting a bandaid, she spills a drop of blood on the cloning apparatus. Later that evening, Max unknowningly places it in the cloning machine, the Replicator (thinking it's hamster blood), and voila! A Kate clone (aka Repli-Kate!).
Henry & Max realize they need to assimilate the clone and Henry has the brilliant idea to make her every man's dream girl: just like a man! They teach her to hate flowers, love sports & beer, and eventually, porn & sex.
Much confusion ensues.
It was actually way better than I thought it would be. I fully expected to turn it off before finishing, but we watched the whole thing, with a few laughs along the way. I work in the entertainment industry, so I am weary of any film that I have not heard of. This was no exception.
Despite being very predictable, it was still enjoyable and cute. Definitely not worth paying for though!
