What turned you on to doing Amazing Grace? What type of research did you go through for the role?

Who is the prettier co-star: Jessica Alba or Keira Knightley?

You do a lot of period pieces. Are these the sort of projects that excite you or is it more a matter of once there's an actor out there who is good at costume drama, he can't ever escape? I'm a performer too, and I know a lot of people can't act well past all the layers of unfamiliar costuming. Did you find that a struggle at first or do the clothes help inform the character for you?

So, when are ya gonna do another Hornblower movie? When? Huh? What? Too big a star now, huh? To good for A&E now, huh? Well, hello Mr. Fancy-breeches! Russel Crowe looked better in the hat anyway!

So, really, seriously, any plans for another Hornblower project? Maybe something even on a bigger scale?

If so, I completely take back the thing about the hat . . . and Crowe is a hack.

How do you select the roles that you take on, and what sort of roles would you like to play in the future?

Of all the characters you've portrayed in the past, which one could you relate to the most on a personal level? Which one do you feel was the hardest to relate to?

If you could choose any role whatsoever, with NO restrictions, what role would you like to play more than anything? Why?

Your acting talent is amazing in period pieces and I've cried like a baby while watching them especially Solomon and Gaenor and the death scene in King Arthur. I loved your portrayal of Freddy Bywaters in Another Life. Which role was your personal favorite and which genre do you prefer?

Most of the work you have done and the characters you have played are characters from books Like Hornblower, Bosinney fron the Forsyte Saga, Harry from Man and Boy. Did you get time to read the books? and if so did you manage to take any of their characteristics and mannerisms and perform them in your portrayal of the character?

Most people here in Norway remember you from Hornblower(sound dirty if you don't know what it is xD ) do you want to get rid of that....I don't remember the word! like, are you tierd of people just remebering you as Hornblower, and not all of the other characters you've done?

Hi Ioan! I have so enjoyed all of the period roles you have performed. I am truly looking forward to Amazing Grace.

I have been wondering if there was an American historical figure that you would be interested in portraying. Anyone in particular? Or any typical american historical role? (I did read once that you'd like the challenge of performing as a cowboy but other than that...? this is asked with wink.)

#1 What was it like to play the abolitionist, William Wilberforce? Did you do research on him in order to really get into character? Also, do you believe what Wilberforce was doing was right? Would you do the same if you were back in his time?
#2 Seeing as you played Reed Richards in Fantastic Four, what was it like to be a superhero? Do you have a favorite superhero?
