Prestige

I must admit I was rather disappointed in this movie. I was under the impression that it was about a competition between 2 Great magicians. But it is really just about revenge. I thought it went kind of slow and the end was rather depressing. No body wins in this movie, and it really show how revenge can destroy a person and their family.
I wouldn't recommend it.

On the other hand I saw The Illusionits A while back and Loved it. If you are going to see one or the other I would deffinately choose this one.

A little detail may have been a bit more persuasive. Speaking of this film, what's the deal with the David Bowie/Nikola Tesla thing? I'm a great lover of both.

Thanks for the advice. I saw the previews for Prestige and thought it looked good, but now I'll know not to waste my money. I hate it when I see previews and get excited about a movie then go see it and find out it wasn't very good.

Is the Illusionist still in the theater?

I have the same question that Melissa asked...is the Illusionist still in theatres? My husband and I are looking to go to a movie Sunday afternoon.

I've seen both THE ILLUSIONIST and THE PRESTIGE. Both are excellent and both are different in the approach to the story. I grew up around many illusionists and I do believe THE PRESTIGE got it right. They are driven and very competative and can be very vengeful. The Illusionist plays like an old Sherlock Holmes film in that it keeps all explaination to the end, on the other hand THE PRESTIGE asks the audience to pay attention and consider what one will give up in order to succeed. Both are great films and worth the money if you enjoy period pieces.
