Homeland Security Enlists Clergy to Quell Public Unrest if Martial Law Ever Declared

"Could martial law ever become a reality in America? Some fear any nuclear, biological or chemical attack on U.S. soil might trigger just that. KSLA News 12 has discovered that the clergy would help the government with potentially their biggest problem: Us...."
There was gun confiscation during the state of emergency following Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, along with forced relocation. U.S. Troops were brought in, now allowed thanks to last year's elimination of the 1878 Posse Comitatus act, which had forbid regular U.S. Army troops from policing on American soil.
Now a "Clergy Response Team" in Shreveport has been formed to work with Homeland Security in the event of a similar situation.
"Dr. Durell Tuberville serves as chaplain for the Shreveport Fire Department and the Caddo Sheriff's Office. Tuberville said of the clergy team's mission, "the primary thing that we say to anybody is, 'let's cooperate and get this thing over with and then we'll settle the differences once the crisis is over.'"....
For the clergy team, one of the biggest tools that they will have in helping calm the public down or to obey the law is the bible itself, specifically Romans 13. Dr. Tuberville elaborated, "because the government's established by the Lord, you know. And, that's what we believe in the Christian faith. That's what's stated in the scripture."

Good post.
Yeah . . . right,

There has been some effort to reverse the disastrous legislation permitting the federalization of the National Guard over the objections of the Governors.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God, the powers that be are ordained by God.
The Bible is a translation, it was not written in English. In approaching such a verse, it is extremely useful to have access to what the original Greek words were, so as to resolve the blatant paradox of supporting someone like Adolf Hitler, if they manage to gain control of a government. The somewhat odd phrasing "the higher powers" just begs to be looked at more closely. The word which is rendered 'higher' here, is a translation of the Greek word 'huperecho', which means "best, excellency, supreme".
Any attentive schoolboy knows that the supreme authority in the United States is the Constitution, and the people whose name it was written in, and by whose inherent right to self governance it was generated. There cannot be a "higher power" in our government, but merely adherents to, or usurpers of, that supreme power.
The fact that a criminal like Hitler was able to get many people to obey him does not make him the legitimate authority, no more than Al Capone's success in getting many people to yield to his will made him a legitimate authority. These preachers can read whatever nonsense they wish into those words, but that does not render the actual legitimate authority of our laws, based on the Constitution, any less the supreme power of this land. And when one simply asks the question; "Is the President the boss, or the servant of the people, in our governmental system?", the apparent contradiction melts away. WE the people are the higher power which must be obeyed. If not, those renegades are nothing but thugs with guns, according to the Book.
