Tuesday October 6th, 2009 we went to the ponds just to see how the fall color was coming along. It was my middle sons 37th birthday I felt it was an appropriate way to celebrate. After all a wonderful son and this beautiful earth I call home are both precious gifts.
As always we brought the dogs along for the ride. Arriving first at Montoon which is the smaller of the two ponds. As you can see most of the trees are just starting to turn. Here a man is enjoying an pleasant autumns day fishing.

Lots of yellow leaves in some spots.

Frito Rito is much larger.

On a clear day, you can see Mt. Stuart from both ponds it looks funny to me with no snow.

The calm day made for a reflective pond.

Pond scum.

The island, the fields, the hills, and the orchards beyond.

William and a buddy visit while the dogs and I go for a walk. And they talk about us women ?

Someone is living in a trailer while building a home on the far shore. They just leave their boats on the water.

Duck !

There are a lot of goslings raised on this island every spring.

The last two shots where taken near the Yakima River.

I have a "thing" for wooded areas such as this. To me they seem magical and wonderful, spiritual actually.
