In Stoney Creek Ontario there is a castle on the shore of Lake Ontario. Ir's called Edgewater Manor. It is just seconds off the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) The major freeway between Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Hamilton and Toronto.

When I first moved to Ontario it was just a castle at the end of the Lakeside Drive, the street I lived on with wonderful views of Lake Ontario. An elderly man lived there and there is lots of history available about the building. After I left that area, the castle became apartments and soon after that it was purchased and made into a beautiful fine dining restaurant.

We had lunch there on Friday. Our best friends and my husband and I were celebrating the end of a a successful season in the grapevine business. What a way to spend the afternoon!

Everything was so clean and pretty - the staff was fantastic!

We started with a martini. My husband I like them on the rocks, our friends like them straight up.

Next was a complimentary “PINGUE” CURED MEATS AND HOUSE MADE PATE.
The wine was Chalk Hill Chardonnay 2002 from Sonoma Valley, CA with this plate

Steak Tartar and a mushroom, filo and goat cheese brulee

Our appetizers were delicious. I have no idea why I didn't get a photo of the forth appetizer. My walnut and apple salad with blue cheese was a celebration of tastes.
With this course the wine was a Menage a Trois white, a blend of Chardonnay, Muscato and Chenin Blanc.

The breads served were designer breads - my favorite the olive bread and these bread crisps were served with the appetizers.
Our lunch lasted 3 and a half hours so we could savor the flavors of the dishes and wines. At this point in our meal we were invited to walk around the castle and see all the rooms even the secret room where Celebrities are ushered into the castle from the helicopter pad and served in private.

We went back to our table and enjoyed the rest of our lunch. We all chose fish and seafood.

Halibut

Alaskan White Salmon

Seared Dinner Scallops

Lake Erie Perch
With this course the men had a glass of Menage a Trois red, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon , Merlot and Zinfandel.
And when that was over there was a mess - but a pleasant mess.

No one wanted to look at the dessert menu so we sat and relaxed with a coffee and went home and spent the afternoon by the pool...

Beautiful photos from this place. Nice essay too. I'll admit that the decorative food doesn't look too appitizing to me, but I'm a very picky eater.

Beautiful place and I bet the history is interesting. That's the way to savor fine food. If you're going to gulp and run, you might as well eat at a family restaurant.

:) wishing you laughter
Nice little house...but look at that food. If I ever got to eat any of that compared to what I have now, I'd think I died and went to heaven. A plain peanut butter sandwich with no jam (because I can't afford that addition) compared to any of this? Take me away and let me live here forever!
Ohh, the place looks beautiful! And that food looks delicious. It sounds like a wonderful place!
Great photo essay...I never seen food first hand that was so beautifully displayed for the diners.
