Get Some Exercise

November 19, 2007 08:35 AM EST
Remember to start your week out right and get some exercise. If you're one who sits in front of a desk all day, exercise for you can simply mean taking the stairs instead of an elevator (can lose 5-10 pounds/year using the elevator instead of the stairs) or simply going for walks during your breaks instead of sitting down. Exercise will elevate your mood, help your GI system run more smoothly, loosen that belt, and help you not be as winded when doing things. No one is telling you to run a marathon. Simply, add more physical activities into your day.

You are so right. With Thanksgiving this week I'm slacking. I need to get off Gather and exercise. Although we walked 45 minutes last night trying to find our car after the TSO concert. LOL

If you aim for 50 pounds, it's less likely to happen. If you simply aim for helping your joints feel a little better, being less winded, and getting out of the house/office to walk around and get fresh air to feel good, it makes all the difference.

I wish I would. I go to work early and come home late. By the time I get done with my 10 hour+ days all I want to do is sleep. I can't seem to make myself walk around!

That's what I need, someone jabbing me in the side telling me to get off my rump. I sit at a computer for nine hours a day, then go home and work in the computer. I just get so caught up in my work, I forget to take a break!

Thanks for the nudge. I have a bad knee so I don't stray far from my computer chair or Lazyboy. Instead I walk laps in circles around my three big oak trees, with six or eight cats frisking around me. I'll start right now.

Good reminder, Dan. Even those of us who can't walk very well can exercise within our limits. Exercise is a natural high. I'm working on upper body strength so that I'll be stronger after knee replacement surgery. I can exercise standing, sitting and lying down. Those who can walk without pain are so blessed. I look forward to taking walks again soon.

"can lose 5-10 pounds/year using the elevator instead of the stairs" I think you meant to say using the stairs instead of the elevator. I would have to go out of my way to use the elevator where I work--stairs are the only way to go. I walk everyday--the dog keeps me on my toes.

Good Morning Dan you are so right and exercise doesn't have to be anything more than a walk around a few blocks everyday. Do what feels good to you and smile. I am so sick of seeing people running with clenched jaws - they aren't doing themselves any good stressing about exercising. Just walk or stretch and drink water and eat low on the food chain! Salud.

I found I really need to excercise and lose weight! This weekend we played paintball and most of the women that were in our group ages in their 40's most were all overweight and most of us smokers! Soooo needless to say although it was fun it would have been more if we all were in shape . Im seriously thinking of utilizing my gym membership that has been dormant for 2 years! lol and quitting smoking! Although the guys felt it they were in better shape than us!

Thanks for reminding me about exercises! I am trying to do some from ever. Sometime I do some and sometime nothing. Most of the time nothing. However somehow I made my mind and doing some exercises from last three days regularly. But I am having sore muscles too. Hope I will get over with them and keep doing these exercises from now onwards. My goal is to shed those extra pounds which I gained due to giving birth to my two wonderful daughters.

I take Tae Kwon Do class 3-5 times a week and can testify to how wonderful I feel.
Not only does my body enjoy the work out but it release my mind and I feel renewed.
I love TKD and wish every woman would get involved in your area. Take your daughters with you and kick together.

Smiles,
Donna

Very true... Come to think of it, Feb'07 my weight was 48kg and waist size 28 but now eversince I started working, I just sit on my chair and face my PC from 9am-9pm everyday (including weekends and holidays) and now i'm 62kg and my waist size is 32. This has kept me worried these past few months, and every time I try to control my diet I get more hungrier and stressed... I m really out of control...

Good advice for all of us. I think I'll go for a walk now---oooppps, it's raining, maybe I'll slip in a DVD and workout to that--hmmm palates? yoga? aerobics? Maybe after my nap the rain will be gone.

Happy Turkey Day and eat the white meat without skin.

If I go exercize, how will I ever have any time to read your posts and leave you some comments and 10s? Besides, my body threatens me everytime I even think about exercizing. You should hear the terrible things it says it will do to me if I do. It's just awful.

That's always great advice. :) That's what I've been doing lately...hehe. Trying to walk about 6 miles a day.
