I have twice posted an article that a gatherer has deliniated as being SPAM. The 1st time may have been since I sent out an email linking to it. However, I was very clear in both the title and the content of the article that one does not need to look at this article and it is only intended for those who are interested. Let's face it, no one forces you to read ANYTHING. Now the message was about a social networking site that I use that pays you simply to chat with other people. If you would like the link, simply ask for it in a comment or email and I'll send it out for you to take a look. I will not, however, be posting the link in this article lest I be flagged for a third time simply for posting a link. Sure, if you get messages in your inbox regarding our different articles that we want you to read, it can be annoying. I'm more guilty of sending emails linking to my pictures, my articles, and ultimately, what I put time and effort into. If you don't want to read something, then don't read it. Do not, however, prevent others from seeing it.
There are things in this life that will make you uncomfortable and things that you disagree with. THAT'S GOOD. You SHOULD be uncomfortable. We all should be. If you are never made to be confronted with things you disagree with or things that you are uncomfortable with, you will not learn as much as when you're challenged or exposed to what you're not used to. Many of you are content living in your own microcosms, unexposed to anything that challenges your views. Let me just say that you are not living a full life and are simply doing yourself, and others, a disservice. We are always benefitted more by a greater access to information rather than a diminished access.
How can you expect the freedoms that you embrace and not be willing to protect the freedoms of others (whether you agree with them or not)? Thus, be wary the next time you look at that report content button for anything but copyright violation. The button may as well say "I am pushing this button because I am not comfortable with being exposed to things that are foreign to me and I would like to allow my xenophobia to negatively impact others".

I can't prove it, but that's what I think.
Advertising is a sleazy game, but without it, newspapers, magazines and the web would cost a whole lot more.
However, I am getting way too many mass mailings. If I am connected to you, I will see your stuff because I go to 'my gather' daily to read what has shown up. I should have a right to to read what I want and not have to waste time visiting my emails and deleting.
We all have our different tastes in what we want to read on a limited amount of time.
It is kind of like a sales call in the middle of my dinner. I hate those, don't you?
So don't fill up my box with mass emailings. If you want me to see something that is really important to you, then send me a personal email. I am more likely to read it and respond to you.
make us crazy... certainly not me... i'm crazy enough...
try to have a great day...
I don't think people should be able to flag articles and pics, unless they can back up their reason for it.
Take care!
