Abstinence Only=TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE
It has been known throughout academia and among those with common sense that sexual education programs that promote abstinence-until-marriage are ineffective and do not prepare our youth with adequate information to take on the realities of the world in which we live. The study that was mandated by the US congress showed that students who attended abstinence only programs had the same number of sexual partners and first had sex at the same age (average= 14 years 9 months) as those who did not attend sex ed classes.
Our schools need comprehensive sex education classes that provide our youth with ADEQUATE ACCURATE information. Comprehensive sex education has led to a decrease in teen pregnancy rate in comparison to the Bush administration's abstinence only education.
