we've had an eventful day. first, i wanted to show you the photos of the huge rainbow we saw last night, after the storm. i just happened to look out and THERE it was! wow!! gorgeous, and we could see almost the whole thing - just not the top curve. it was gone within 5 minutes, so we were very lucky. lillie made up a rainbow dance and it was glorious.

the irises have been really beautiful this year. i can't stop taking pictures of them!

and today, we had such a lovely morning. we got out our sunfish sailboat and scrubbed it... also scrubbed the kayak while we were at it, floating away tons of spiders to the delight of many brave fish that ventured close enough to dine well. lillie and i went out in the sailboat - i just love the sound of the waves, slapping the bottom of the boat. we didn't stay out for long, since the lake was getting busy, but enough for me to be happy. joy, pure joy. lillie played in the shallows while we scrubbed, and served us all sand ice cream cones. a bit gritty, but still delicious.

tonight, the sunset was incredible. two great blue herons flew by. i didn't have my camera up in time, alas. i will never forget that sight, of those two silhouetted against the pink sky.

i did catch a muskrat, playing. i think i am too far away for you to see him, but he's there...

life on a lake is so enjoyable. even the most mundane outdoor chores are enhanced by the sights, sounds, and smells of the water. i feel so very lucky.
