Daily Whine & Shine - March 3, 2008

I messed up my schedule yesterday by sleeping from about 5 to 9 p.m. Then I couldn't sleep and was up until about 4 a.m. this morning, I think. At some point, I got tired enough to sleep, but ended up in my recliner because my back hurt so bad.

When hubby went to work, I didn't hear him - as usual. It used to be when I was sleeping in the recliner, our dog Jake would sleep beside me. This time when I woke up, the two dogs - Jake and Zeus - were sleeping in the other chair in the living room. I guess they were tired, 'cause I was able to sneak into the kitchen, put batteries in the camera and take a few pictures. I hope they came out. Haven't checked yet.

It was a beautiful day here yesterday. I rodearound with the top down, today it is cold and rainy and we are expecting snow.

They closed the school where I work today and tomorrow for a "trimester break". I didn't have to come in today but being the tech guy, I can get alot of things done today without the phone ringing. Whoo Hoo!

Nice to Hear the weather is a bit better in some places. Yesterday it got up to 70 here. Wonders of wonders after almost being snowed in last week. Strange weather. But great news Marilyn That site with the gift cards paid off for me Finnally. Put in this morning for my first Wal-Mart Gift card. It is not much but to me it is the feeling of final ly doing something that has worked out even if it is a gift card it can still be used to pay my way a bit. Lord knows some times I feel like others think I do not do that. I do try but at times in their eyes I feel like they think I fall short of the msrk of paying my way to their needs. Maybe this is the start of them seeing me as some one trying to be self sufishant

Besides, Angela, if they really wanted you to contribute more, perhaps they would have helped you get your GED? Or would offer more assistance in helping you find ways to contribute? You know...some people are never happy...only want to complain. Maybe that's what you're dealing with...in which case you just need to turn a deaf ear.

I have no whine today, only shine. It rained in the night with some thunderboomers. But - it rained, as in Springtime rain. It didn't snow, it didn't freezing rain, it just rained. I think the moisture is out there prodding the tulips to wake up and get to work. Happy March!

I'll be away from the computer for a while. I need to set up my new computer. But that means I have to clean off my desk (and underneath my desk) first. Quite a project.

Thanks Marilyn, I had been wondering the same thing for a while now. It is nice to see that when some see my words as I am thinking them in my head whn I am wondering about dealing with my family, It is nice to see others see the same thing I see. Or at least you seem to be seeing what I am seeing. But thank s for saying in your own way that you do think I am giving to my family when they from my eyes do not seem to be seeing it that way and that I may be over reacting about them. It is nice to know some understand my delima

Maria you had mintioned my G.E.D. Test I have tried for it 3 times and the last time I was about to try for it I was in the hospital and paid in advance for the test before I got sick when I went back to try and take the test o n a remake without lossi ng my money they saisd it was non refundable and would not give me the make up test let al one my mo ney and wanted another I think at the time it was 40 dollors and that was to much to pay my mom said when I wo ulds be paying double for a test took already two times and failed before and mom said for me to just stop while I was ahead so I gave up trying till I met Marilyn and her husband who try and push me and let me know I can do anything I set my mind to. So when I get the money on my own I am going back and get my G.E.D. Just not sure how long it will be before I get that much because I am sure the prices are higher now. But yes I will get it some day.

Angela, if you have the time, you should contact colleges in your area. We got a flyer from University of Cincinnati the other day. They have all kinds of free education programs for adults, including studying for the GED. They also had a program where they would let any new UC student take one free class. In the brochure, there was a number for the disability office at the college. The info said that they have all kinds of accommodations for disabled persons, including free tutors. Maybe you need to see if a college in your area has those kinds of programs.
