Hey everyone,
I received this notice in my email this morning from a friend. Just wondering how many of you might be interested in taking the time to make a little of this boy's dream come true. All it takes is the cost of a card and a postage stamp. How about it?
For those of you who are willing, how about keeping this young boy in your prayers?
Thanks!
Dawn
There's the little boy who lives in Lancaster, Ontario (about 40 minutes from here)... His story has been in the local papers and on the news. We're collecting cards for him at our store too and we'll send them to him. They showed his aunt on the news and she's already collecting boxes and boxes of cards for him.
I hope he gets cards from all over the world! Thanks, Treena
Here's the story...
He's a 7 yr. old boy from Ontario with an acute form of Leukemia. His only wish is to be in the Guiness book of world records for the person to have received the most birthday cards ever. I believe I read that the present record is 350 million birthday cards to one person. All I know is that if I could, I would send him all 350 million of them. His story has been told on the radio and apparently the news out there, so I'm gathering he's already started to receive some. Anyhow, I thought I would let you know in case you'd like to send him some or even just one. Oh, and by the way his birthday is May 30th, and here's the address to send them to:
Shane

Please forward this to everyone you know so that we can work at making his dream come true.
Many thanks to those who took the time to check further into this and to supply the direct site for this story which by the way is true.

Birthday cards for Shane. Help us make a special birthday wish come true by joining Shane’s family, KISS FM , TLP Foundation and the thousands of people already getting involved in our campaign to inundate this brave (and very loveable) young boy with birthday cards. (His birthday is May 30th). Hint: He is into frogs and motorcycles – we know, weird combo! For information on card drop-off locations visit the link at KISS FM and let’s pay it forward!

Childs Name: Shane Age 7
Diagnosis: A.L.L. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Likes: All sports, building things, video games
Dislikes: Being in the hospital for long periods
Favorite Thing in the Whole World: Lego
At almost age 5, Shane was diagnosed with A.L.L. After 1 month of treatment he went into early remission, meaning there were no cancer cells in his blood. Although his family were pleased with this, Shane still had 130 weeks of treatments to go through. July 6/06 Shane relapsed after 108 treatments, which was a shock to all, including his doctors. Shane may have to undergo a bone marrow transplant down the road at some point, but the good news on that is his brother is a match. There has been no sign of cancer in his system since his relapse.
This is one article I hope you will share with others...not for me, but for this young boy Shane. Thanks to everyone who has already offered to help out by sending him a birthday card.

(Sorry it's not a proper link, I've managed to learn how in the articles finally thanks to Bonnie C, comments are next!)
I hope His dream comes through.
Thanks!
I saw this earler, and when I tried to visit the links, I got one of those pages that says "cannot display internet page". I didn't comment at that time, because I was hoping someone could verify whether or not this one was true.
I'm afraid that I'm becoming a bit cynical about email forwards. I get so many in my regular email that I just delete the majority of them without even opening them. I get so tired of the "send this to ten friends or you might die, too" emails!!
HOWEVER, though they have a nice statement about accountability, there are No reports or statistics listed. Under both headings, they simply have "coming soon". For a group that has been in operation since March 2006, they should have at least one report to verify what they are doing with their donations.
Also, they only show two children on their site. Not a good record for almost a year in business. I was hoping to be proven wrong on this one, but so far, everything points to a hoax. Sorry.
Lydia, and Faith, your help in checking on this story and providing the actual site as well as links is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Connie, Jan, and Janet.
Wendy and Marsha...it doesn't seem to be a hoax. There is a picture of the boy as well as info about him there on the site if you want to check it out I've put in the links to the site.
Have you been counting down the weeks for a new episode of LOST? It's back on tonight after a 13 week hiatus. It will now run for 16 weeks straight. The word is that questions will be answered tonight." -- anyway, not that just because a site is talking about today's news makes it more valid, but what I'm trying to say is that if this isn't a valid cause, then the radio station is to blame - NOT Dawn for reporting it. This whole spam on gather thing has got my panties in a bunch because now everyone automatically thinks everything is spam, even if it's not. Thanks for listening.
