This is a good time to learn about financial astrology as recent developments in the stock market have once again proven that there is a significant correlation between the movement of the planets and the fluctuations in the stock markets not just in the U.S.A. but also in other bourses around the world. Perhaps more importantly is that readers can see the fact that these fluctuations can be projected beforehand using financial astrology (especially if used in conjunction with technical indicators.)
On July 27, Venus turned retrograde (the apparent backward movement of planets) and it will remain so till September 8. A week prior to this date, with the objective of demonstrating financial astrology principles at work, I have issued a warning that the drop in Google’s price is actually a preview of what is to come. This projection proved to be correct.
It is not only the US stock markets that dropped big, markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America experienced significant drop in their stock markets as well, in fact this is the worst drop in recent years.
Venus and Money
Now, more than two weeks later the drop continues, with even greater vigor on August 10.
What is it with Venus that makes this recent series of downturn so nasty?
In financial astrology, Venus is connected with money itself. The movement of Venus and its relationship with other planets mirror the investor’s mentality. When Venus is retrograde, it is considered weak – and in the minds of investors fear creeps in and a change in trend ensues.
It is interesting to note that in this recent sell-off the financial sector is among those that were hit worst. Banks, lending and investment companies have broken down below their long-term trend lines.
The subprime fiasco in the U.S. housing market have created liquidity problems of big proportions such that Europe’s ECB and the US Fed have to inject massive funds in the banking system to keep the financial markets working.
According to Reuters central banks around the world have pumped in a total of around $326.3 billion on Thursday August 9 and Friday August 10.
Despite that move from the central banks, the NYSE, Dow and Nasdaq ended in the red on August 10 and August 13.
The Best Strategy During Venus Retrograde
In electional astrology, a branch of astrology wherein the best time to do something is determined – everyone is advised against initiating something very important when a planet is retrograde. When Venus is retrograde, electional astrology rules state that it is not wise to make a big purchases. This also applies to stocks – so what is the best strategy during Venus retrograde?
Buying stocks and even holding an IPO is not a good idea during Venus retrogrades.
The best approach is actually short selling - especially is the period before Venus retrograde is preceded by a strong rally just as we have seen in July when the Dow hits 14,000. However, greater profit will be achieved if shorting is done prior to Venus retrograde if one sees an extremely overbought condition.
Is there a recovery soon?
Venus retrograde is not yet finished and within this period (till September 8) there are other astrological factors at work that says that there is more room on the downside.
But even after Venus retrograde ends, other important astrological cycles will be at work.
There are two major upcoming astrological configurations that are correlated with slowdown in economy, particularly that of the U.S.A.
One of these is the Mars/Vesta cycle, which according to the works of Bill Meridian coincides with the 4-year cycle trough. This cycle will take place between September 2007 and June 2008.
Another is the Nodal cycle, which according to the researches of the early 20th century astrologer Louise Mcwhirter (and one of the pioneers of financial astrology), the US economy will bottom when the Moon's North Node is in Aquarius. This node will be in Aquarius in 2008.
I will have more of these two cycles in the coming weeks.
Caution is still needed in the market, and the best strategy is to be either on the sideline and wait for gold stocks to bottom or short non-gold stocks.
