Astrology update by Lola Babalon
Cheers to turning the tides once again, another click in the yearly cycles of the Earth around the Sun. The new year brings out peoples good intentions, resolutions, promises and incentive to change. Lots of that going on for the people whose birthdays are celebrated this month:
Capricorn, the Professionals of the Zodiac
This sign’s symbol is the mountain goat, an animal inclined to climb great heights. The Capricorn individual tends to be of an ambitious, practical, and conservative nature, and inclined to climb socially, literally, or financially. This cardinal earth sign needs to be active in earthly, i.e. professional and business matters. They believe in law and order, and have a down-to-earth, no-nonsense, realistic attitude. The practical Cap learns to use a variety of different skills during their lives. They are often quite mature and serious as children, and have a reputation for longevity, largely because of their conservative lifestyles. It is said of them, that: “They are born old and grow younger over time.”
Cap’s usually need a certain material and financial security, and often there is a strong inner drive to succeed. Unlike the Aries type competitiveness and have-at-it, the Capricorn is apt at using all available resources, and a good sense of strategy in planning ahead of the game.
Their ruling planet is Saturn, which mythological corresponds the Chronos - the old man with the beard, Father Time. Timing is an important concept for Cap’s, as they are good at making time work for them, and appreciate punctuality as a form of respect. Which adds to their reputation for being responsible, reliable and trustworthy. Their more negative character traits can evolve as emotional coldness and rigidity, stubbornness, pessimism or melancholy.
Currently there is a mutual reception between Sun in Capricorn, Saturn in Leo. It reminds you to support the inner artist along with the inner professional. So much of your time is spend working, you may as well find meaning and purpose there.
