Advice Needed: How NOT to raise a nudist.

If it is any comfort, I grew up hearing stories of how I would take any chance given to dispose of undergarments in public places as a toddler. I grew up being inclined to keep my clothes on, well... except for that rather embarrassing incident in the town of Rhinebeck, NY but alcohol and college life did have a lot to do with that so I really can't be held responsible.

Relax mom. She will grow out of it. :)

Or maybe you shouldn't listen to me at all. The last time I recall disrobing outside I as a child I was old enough to know I shouldn't and went around the corner of the house to do it. Neighbors called my mother.

My son is almost 8 and I have to fight him to leave his clothes on.

My secret to keeping him clothed. In the winter turn down the heat and in the summer turn up the AC.

I'm pretty sure its a phase. My daughter liked to strip down as a toddler. She is now a fully clothed and productive member of society.

Re: Nudist. There's a nude beach not far away. I'd always known about it but never went. My then GF now wife talked me into going. It was NOT a pretty sight. I felt like pouring acid in my eyes. I have concluded that unless I get to choose the nude people, I would rather they remain clothed. Arrrrgh.

I would have to agree that it is just a phase. I would say that she is taking off her clothes as a way to either establish control over some important aspect of her life or to get attention, or maybe both. I would try allowing and even ignoring her disrobing rather than fighting it. I think this will make her feel like it isn't an important issue and she'll loose interest.

I would also try letting her establish some control over her clothing in a more constructive way, like letting her pick out her own outfits. No matter what absurd ensemble she decides on, its better than naked, right? If she picks out her own clothes, then she'll have a sense of ownership and pride in her outfit and she will probably be less inclined to discard it.

But what do I know? I usually at least Porky Pig it when I am alone at home and have been known to loose the occasional garment in public after a couple stiff drinks.

Personally, I think you need to let her feel comfortable with being naked. I only wish someone had encouraged me in that way before I spent those awful four minutes on my first nude beach, getting up the nerve to get naked.

If you insist on trying to keep her clothes on, I recommend duct tape.

Both my kids (boys) did this, the second one for a fairly long period. They don't anymore. That's about it....

Some people make a lot of money just for taking their clothes off. Don't worry about her.

If nothing else, she'll stop taking off her clothes when she gets her first credit card.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA. My son was the same way. They grow out of it, usually by the time they're 3. What finally did it for my son was he realized clothing kept him warm. Sometimes we still have "naked baby sightings", especially after bathtime when you see a wet toddler streaking around the house. It's hilarious! Take pictures!

Wurdz. My daughter (2 on Dec 14 ...woot) does the same thing. See if we hang out. We can be a force of two and look at other people like THEY are the crazy ones.

My daughter did the same thing. She's now 11 and horrified at the idea that she did this when she was younger. This too shall pass.
