Tonight Gideon picked up the small notebook I'd set aside for him to draw on in the car and other times away from home. He rarely uses it, but it's really no trouble at all to tote it along for those times when he might feel inclined to draw.
He found it on the floor by his Cars chair and asked if he could draw. I, naturally said of course and off he went. He was very intent on what he was creating. Then I heard a rip and over he came paper in hand.
What he had given me was a picture of Spongebob.

I took it commented on how wonderful the drawing was and he ran back to his pad making another one. Once again he tore it our and ran over to me. He'd made a snake this time.
Then he went to make a screw.
Off he went again to make another drawing. A couple crayons this time.
And again he went off again. Then a pepperoni pizza.
A button.
And most notably a bird.

He wrote the word "bee"
Here's a couple he did the other night.
Water.
And a caterpillar.

It seems that Gideon's been bit by the drawing bug, and I just love that he's back to creating beautiful drawings!
In the interest of speedy loading I've only made some of the more complex drawings full sized. However, you may click the images attached to this article to view each drawing full sized.

Today, he went for the puzzles...and he has done each of them about five times. Counting ones, an American map, the Alphabet etc. I try to let him find the urge to do it himself, as I am sure this is much more fun than having me ask him all the time.

Jacquie: You should see if the grand kids are up for creating something for your fridge. :-)
Sandy: Indeed I am proud of him.
Sandra You never know. My mom draws and I do too (not so much lately) so he very well could keep up drawing.
Sandy: I think he could if he decides to keep drawing. I'm seeing a big improvement in his earlier drawings so far.
Charity: I do too!
Flit: Glad you enjoyed it!
JoAnne: I plan to show him he's got his pictures here and read all of your wonderful comments to him. He always loves hearing your comments. :-)
Melinda: Thanks!
Nana: I agree wholeheartedly!
J.r.: He's four. He has a birthday coming up next month, though. Gideon's drawing comes and goes, but then again mine does too. He recently has been doing his puzzles as well. It must be something with the rainy weather that makes him want to explore his creative side!
What wonderful drawings he's done!
I loved reading that you take a little notebook along
for him to draw on when you go places.
I used to do that with my son . . .
especially when we were going out to eat
so he could have something to do while
we waited for our meal.
I think you have a talented little artist!
I really liked his bird drawing.
It would be really neat if you take it
to someplace like Kinko's and have
them enlarge it to poster size.
It would be really neat that large,
then framed, and hung in his room.
I hope you'll show us more of his art.
