Microwave Popcorn

I’m a mom of four boys Zach 15, Isaiah 6, Jacob 3 and Samuel 2. I love my boys and life is never dull. They are a constant challenge and a great source of entertainment. I have to tell you about a particular incident we had involving microwave popcorn.  My day started like any normal day I woke up, dressed and went to work. My husband Ray was taking Isaiah to a doctor’s appointment that day. Isaiah had been very distracted lately and hadn't been listening very well. I figured normal behavior for a 6 year old boy.  Ray arrived at the pediatrician’s office and Dr. B starts examining Isaiah he starts checking his ears and he stops with an alarmed look on his face. Ray starts to panicked because Dr. B has been are pediatrician for 15 years and he is always calm not matter what he happens.  Dr. B begins setting up a surgical tray and he tells Ray that Isaiah has something blocking his ear canal. Dr. B tries to grab whatever it is in Isaiah's ear and pull it out this doesn't work so he starts flushing his ear with warm water to loosen the object. Dr. B explained they may need to do surgery to remove it if he can't get it oout. Dr. B reaches in and the object pops out and flies across the room.  Ray is completed traumatized by now and they both stare at this object. Dr. B wipes it off on gauze and just amazed they both say " It's a popcorn kernal".  While trying not to laugh they both had a really stern talk with Isaiah about putting popcorn kernels or anything else in his ears. Just to be safe Dr. B decides to look in Isaiah's other ear and sure enough there was another popcorn kernal in that ear. My boys all love microwave popcorn and I let them take it in there room so they can watch Disney Movies. There is a ban on microwave popcorn now unless supervised. Who knew this could ever be a real issue. We will get a good laugh out of this one for years and Isaiah will always remember that visit to Dr. B.
