Mommies don't get a day off.

Just a rant as I am about to log off & try to catch a nap.  I am sick, really, I feel rotten.  Some mothers will understand - I have mastitis.  I am in a lot of pain, locally & I have all the body aches & chills that go along with it.  I have 3 children, it's summer time, and they are all home with me.  My hubby works full time, and we don't have any family in the area.  So, here I am, feeling rotten with no one to vent to except you guys!  Our Breastfeeding Clinic doesn't open until 1pm & I can't wait to make that trip with 3 kids in tow; one of whom normally naps at that time, but since it is all his fault he will just have to stay up for me.  To make things worse, just a little while ago my son had a diaper that leaked (a big job), and before I could get to him - he played in it!!!  At about the same time, the dog that we are dog-sitting this week decided to go on a walk-about!!!  This is my day so far - and it's not even 9am here!  I am going to go lay on the couch - yeah, like that will work, it won't be long before the kids are at each others' throats or asking me to get something for them!  Anyways, thanks for the vent!

God, I can understand! I don't have kids but my day so far has been sucky and for me it's only 6:48am! Blah!

I'm sorry about your day -- especially the playing in the diaper part, because my boys seem to do that whenever it's dad's turn to change them. Hope it picked up after this.

Thanks guys! I got to the dr, have my antibiotics & my hubby went to the store for me to get more tylenol & yogurt - wohoo!

James - all I have to say is MAN your twins are cute. From what I hear from my friends who have twins (I have one friend w/ 2 sets!) it gets better & remember you get twice the fun (smiles & such) to balance out twice the exhaustion. And, my hubby does get days off... He gets to go out of town on his jeep trips & will be going to Elmira NY next week.

Jen, the compresses help usually, this one came on during the night over the weekend - I think I missed my window to keep this from becoming a full infection.

OUCH. The pain is just awful. I think the sickest I've felt was when I had mastitis.
Many years ago I am happy to say. Although the memory is still strong.
I hope this passes for you as quickly as possible.
Mommies do not get a day off. I agree.

I had mastitis 4 times with my son. It got to the point where I just called my OB and said "call in the damn prescription!". I feel for ya!

Thanks so much everyone! I am feeling better! The antibiotics worked! I have to go back for a follow-up next week, but so far so good. I plan on getting back to the real world today - my workouts, running errands & such. I have a bit of cabin fever, but I think that will be cured today - I am so behind!

Ah poor girl, hope your feeling better. I remember the days, All mine are grown now and now I am going through the grandkids, It gets better as they grow up until they move home with the kids or need you full time as a sitter. Then your experince kicks in and wisdom while your body groans at the abuse sometimes put up on old bones.

When my son was about 6 months old, he had diahrhea (sp?) for about 2 weeks. One morning, he woke up with it all over the crib and he was literally swimming in it! YUCK!! So, I can definately relate! (Sorry for the gross story, but yours just reminded me about it)

Moms don't get a day off, but we definately are loved. Hopefully your family appreciates you and gives you the love you deserve!

Thanks ladies! OK Jill - that IS a yucky story. We've had swimming in vomit, but so far not the big D (knock on wood). I feel fine (so fine it's hard to remember my medicine), I had my annual dr appt & she felt & said it was looking better & I have my follow up next week. I am sure it's all better by now, the alternative thought would be scary.

I got sent to a conference and had to leave my wife with our 4 kids last week. The day I got back, the baby (10 months old) started running a fever. Turns out he has stomatitis with all the mouth sores that go with it. It has been a week now and he is about to get over it, but still a little puny. Some nights, we got a total of 3 hours of sleep. He has had little appetite and has lost weight and looks like his older sibs did at his age -- they were all off the chart tall and skinny -- he has, until now, been more average sized, which looked big to us.

Dieters out there: Stomatitis is NOT the way to lose weight!

There is no way I can relate to the mastitis being male (It rarely occurs in males I looked it up LOL). But I am a stay at home day (Because of cancer) now for the last three years. Being a father of five kids... I know where your coming from when your not feeling at all well and they are trying to practice circus tricks, have the ultimate fighting championship in your living room and leak what always looks like excessive amounts of bodily fluids from their diaper!!! I am sorry it was such a rough day!

I have had plugged ducts before, but not mastitis thank goodness! Awww wow it is nice to hear I am not the only that feels like that :o) (not the day off thing :o))

Wow! I know all about the playing in the diaper. It's good the dog took a walk and didn't clean up the messy diaper! My dog has done that before too and growls at me when I yell at him! Thank God everyday is not like that or I would not be typing right now! LOL!

Yikes, you've had some morning already!! I feel for you. I breastfed my one son for a few months. I had a cat, who got into everything. So I understand about pets and children. You must be in a lot of pain. How horrible that you have the 3 kids, the breast problems, dog problems and you can't get to the clinic. What about a neighbor? Can't someone take care of the kids while you get to the clinic? I had one neighbor at the time that could help me out. What about yours?
