Last week, US newspapers and morning news programs were all a twitter over this late-breaking headline in the London Daily Mail: "Sorry, but my children bore me to death."
In an editorial column, journalist Helen Kirwan-Taylor put her feelings about some of motherhood's most tedious tasks out in the open for everyone to read. In her column she wrote, "I know this is one of the last taboos of modern society. To admit that you, a mother of the new millennium, don't find your offspring thoroughly fascinating and enjoyable at all times is a state of affairs very few women are prepared to admit. We feel ashamed, and unfit to be mothers."

So what's the one thing about parenting that simply bores you to tears? For me, it's the playground. I hate it! On a positive note, we'd like to know what activity do you do with your chidren that you absolutely love? Everyone who responds to this post will be entered to win a Manic Mommies prize.

I'm trying really hard to think of what bores me and ultimately, I don't think I can use the word "bored" and answer the question. I get frustrated, flustered, exhausted and lazy but, I don't think I ever get bored. Maybe one day my daughter will shove that green crayon in my face as she so often does and beg me to draw "right here mommy!" and I will just have to say, "no." It hasn't happened yet.
My most enjoyable activity is easily swimming. The kids love it. I love it. Its excercise. It makes everyone happy! There's no cleanup involved (they are usually cleaner afterward than when they started) and best of all.. it tires them out and makes them go to sleep. While I love spending time with my kids, I do treasure my personal time as well as time with my husband to enjoy ourselves as adults. I'm blessed too that both of my children are very good at independant play and I think that mom's need to teach that skill at the get go so they can take some time for themselves. Without time for yourself .. you will get bored more than you will enjoy your kids. At least that's what I think.
On the other hand, we have been having a grand time lately playing catch in the backyard with 2 discs that hold onto your hand and a velcro ball. We also attempted a family bikeride which almost succeeded except he fell off his bike. Outdoor activities are definitely good...altho somtimes just watching a TV show with him (even Pokemon or YuGiOh) is fun because he is so excited to share it with me...
Not only is it boring, somehow it's my problem every single night. Sigh.
