Second Monday in December, 2008
Last night brought four inches of straight-falling snow that draped lawns, pines, and off-streets in heavy fleece, and left a pudding of salt and slush on the main throughways. The temp was a raw fifteen degrees, and traffic was cranky but cautious. Thankfully, no repeat of Sunday's multiple spinouts and crashes, when gusty winds had whipped up the light flakes to zero visibility.
I was cranky, too, until the first staccato notes of Eddie Grant's "Electric Avenue" burst out of the dash radio. My bad mood melted into mid-May 1980's, Bloomington, Indiana, and cruising around the IU campus with windows rolled down and car radio blasting, in my best friend, Connie's deep red Ford Maverick, Simone. We wore our sunglasses low and our shorts short, sandaled feet on the dashboard and eyes sharp for all the shirtless boys playing Frisbee and chugging beer in between studying for finals.
What a nice break that was!

my new laptop has ~forgotten~ how to go online - I'm perturbed and then some.
