We planted late this year, but our tomatoes, basil, and some right-now-unnamed annuals are doing well. The birch tree is happy (but could be happier...the apple trees are bogarting some sun) and the grapes came back, surprising everyone.

Hear you on the late planting, Janet. We're hoping for aggressive growth or some items might cut it close.
Shannon did you try to arrange for some container gardening?
Sounds good, Risa. Hope working in the garden doesn't feel like working for you. What chiles do you like?
My Black Knight Delphinium is budding already, as well as the two smaller ones. The wildflower garden looks great but what happened to my bee balm? It doesn't seem to be coming up! I had a ton of it along with some echinacea near the steps, but there's no sign of it this year. Any clues, anyone?
There are numerous new things to plant -- maybe today's the day.
Did you get to planting last weekend, Diana? Not sure what to tell you about your bee balm, when we grew it we couldn't control it. It did as it pleased.
I did actually finish the planting -- but picked up a few more things this past weekend. Summer planting doesn't always work out the best, but we are in the process of adding a large wildflower garden and I wanted to start it out with some things that attract butterflies and bees.
Ah! You should see the delphiniums now! I'll have to post some photos of their progress.
Julia, what is in your yard? (I think you're on vacation so "I'll take my answer off the answer," as they say.)
