Interesting article about the importance of Milkweed, and scent not color for attracting the butterflies.  We have milkweed in our shade garden, and on a boulevard Butterfly garden.

It's fun to watch the caterpillars, the cacoons, and the adults fly away.

You can get even more involved! I count eggs, instars (the different phases of the caterpillars), and adult Monarchs in my little patch of milkweed and butterfly weed for the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project based at the University of MN. Just look 'em up on the web. It takes about an hour - give or take - a week, and is really a delightful way to get to know the Monarch better.

My step son Josh pointed out the eggs. It's amazing how tiny they are. Thanks I'll google MLMP, I had orginally googled Monarch Monitoring and ordered my tags from the University of Kansas.
