We're going to get hit by an arctic blast tonight, so cover up any plants or flowers you want to save! I plan to cover only some mums and an ornamental cabbage, and let the wimpy annuals die. I've reached the point where I'm tired of watering and caring for most of my plants, to tell the truth, and am more than ready to put my gardens to bed. Don't get me wrong -- I LOVE gardening -- but taking a break to rev up for the growing season is fine by me. I'm hoping I have to mow the lawn just once more, too. Am I being lazy?
I don't know how hard this frost will be, but I'm sure glad I put up some of my storm windows last night! Brrrrr.
Do you feel a sense of relief at the end of the growing season? Do you think having a long, cold winter makes you appreciate and love spring, summer, and fall all the more? Do you want a break, or do you find it a tad depressing?
