I went to Boston a couple of weeks ago. I never really watch people...I tend to interact with my environment as opposed to sitting back. I really wanted to capture some of the spirit of Boston during my day there. Here are some folks living their daily lives in the city of Boston. As always Boston never disappoints!

I thought: is this guy faking it? I don't see these things in the suburbs. He was there for hours...we walked by him on our way to the aquarium and he was still there on our way back. Here, he was making noises, speaking pigeon-speak. They even seemed to understand him.

I have an entire series. Please respect copyright law. These images are embedded with codes! I like freedom of speech to be respected, even if I want to speak pigeon-speak.

This woman was standing on a corner selling roasted nuts. It smelled good! I think these vendors can make a buck or two but they need to jump through hoops for licenses and laying claims on corners. Two hours later, after leaving the aquarium, this vendor was gone and a new vendor was selling sausages, onions and peppers!

I took this photo later in the day (around 2:00 pm) and as I approached him I thought, "Wow, that's actually a pretty nice jacket and he seems clean...look at his hands." He also didn't have a full carriage so I wondered if he had already cashed in once already that day. Who knows what kind of a life a stranger leads? I think it's kind of cool to wonder
This was quite a rig! This is in Boston Common.
I think I could have gone a little deeper into the recesses of the city if I didn't have the kids with me. Believe it or not, with all the beauty I see in the world, I see survival, too, as a beautiful thing. Life lives!

Thanks for the photos, they are a treat. I have a billion photos of Boston, Boston Harbor, the Harbor Islands, and the North Shore, but they are pretty much all on Flickr, not here, with a few exceptions.

especially if one feels a strong urge to survive
your photos of boston are great
i've actually never thought about the place too much, but you work
compelled me to give it some space in my imagination
woof!
While it is true that survival is a beautiful thing, I can tell you from first hand experience that it doesn't always seem so 'beautiful' while one is going through it!
