Can you feel the LOVE? On this day in 2007, the wife of Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland was arrested on suspicion of burning over $10,000 (£5,000) of his belongings outside their home after police in southern California found a bin of smouldering clothes. Earlier that day, the couple left two rooms vandalised at a luxury hotel. On the same year and the same day, Eminem and his ex-wife Kim reached a court agreement to stop insulting each other in public. The pair, who divorced for the second time last year, pledged to stop trading insults for the sake of their 11-year-old daughter Hailie. The deal came after the rap star took legal action to stop Kim Mathers making "derogatory, disparaging, inflammatory and otherwise negative comments".

Tony Banks of Genesis is born.

1965:
The Supremes scored their fourth US No.1 single with 'Stop! In The Name Of Love.'

1966:
During an UK tour, Roy Orbison fell off a motorbike while scrambling at Hawkstone Park, Birmingham fracturing his foot. He played the remaining dates sat on a stool and walking on crutches.


THE SEVENTIES:

1970:
Born on this day, Mariah Carey, singer. Carey is named after 'They Call The Wind Mariah' from the musical 'Paint Your Wagon.'

1972:
Elvis Presley recorded what would be his last major hit, 'Burning Love,' a No.2 hit on the US chart and No.7 in the UK.

1975:
Born on this day, Fergie, US R&B singer, songwriter, former member of Kids Incorporated, Wild Orchid, co-host of the TV show Great Pretenders, and vocalist of The Black Eyed Peas.

1979:
Eric Clapton married Patti Harrison (the ex wife of George) at Temple Bethel, Tucson, Arizona. Patti applied for a divorce in 1988.

1991:
Donnie Wahlberg of New Kids on the Block is charged with first-degree arson in connection with a fire at the historic Seelbach Hotel in Louisville, Ky. The singer performs later in the evening after posting $5,000 bail.


1998:
Alice Cooper breaks ground for Cooper's Town, the 50-year-old rocker's sports- and rock'n'roll-themed restaurant and bar to be built three blocks from the Arizona Diamondbacks' baseball stadium.


AND NOW:

2002:
Actor/musician Dudley Moore-whose work as a jazz pianist was mainly overshadowed by his film roles-dies at his New Jersey home of pneumonia, a complication of progressive supranuclear palsy. He is 66.


2005:
Former Crowded House and Split Enz drummer Paul Hester is found dead of an apparent suicide Saturday in a park in Melbourne. He is 46.
