An Infamous Review
All the high society people are going to love this. I have the gossip. First off Peggy Lee botches the intro song. (It may have been a stunt.) Babe Paley's husband is cheating. (He's the president of CBS.) I heard that Truman even kissed one of the inmates in what will become the "Brokeback" moment of the movie and the year. It's "Infamous".
This is a wow of a movie. It's fun and funny.
"Infamous" is a great movie much better than the 2005 movie based on the same person "Capote" and I didn't even see that one. (I really should go see that one) If you are a fan of the "Art House" type of movie, you'll more than love this one you'll remember it and tell your friends.
Truman Capote investigates the murder the Clutter family in the small town of Holcomb, Kansas with his good friend Harper Lee in pursuit of writing a different kind of story for the New Yorker Magazine. The article quickly turns into a book called "In Cold Blood" after gaining access to the two inmates accused of the murders.
There was one moment for me that I found interesting. It has nothing to do with the movie other than a scene was the catalyst for my feelings. I was in an "Art House" movie theater but I may not have been sitting with an "Art House" crowd because everyone like me received the tickets for free as a preview audience. So when the unexpected "Brokeback" moment happened everyone except me gasped at the site two men kissing. I want to yell "Way to go Truman!" but I didn't.
I was thinking about Truman Capote after the movie. Part of me saw a man hurting and honest that man was Truman. Another part of me saw a man hunting and destroying leaving a wake, this was Capote. The two mixed made for a man fighting himself on the inside and flamboyant and outspoken on the outside.
From the beginning where you first hear the mousy voice to the middle where you hear the funny and witty one liners all the way to the end where you see a fully developed three dimensional character, Truman Capote comes alive before you eyes.
Go see "Infamous"!
