I fell in love with books as a young girl. My parents insisted we read and I found many lovely selections at the library, right across the street from where we live. As I progressed in school, I read the classics, but would always have an “entertainment book” on hand and I have many favorite authors, endless possibilities.
I can’t imagine not having a book on my nightstand, a book when I’m bored, and a book when I travel. In fact, I always plan my reading when I’m going to be away and find it difficult sometimes to pick and choose. I need an airplane book, a bedside book, a pool book, light ready, heavy reading, and you name it reading. I’ve been known to carry five books and leave shoes behind to make my suitcase manageable.
On a recent trip, I noticed many folks pulling out Kindles and other types of electronic readers, fascinating devices. They looked easy to carry, lightweight, and I know that within seconds you can download many stories in them, and have at a fingertips a virtual library. This should be my dream come true but it isn’t.
I can’t image not having a “real” book in my hand. I like to turn pages, to feel the texture of the paper, and to see the print. And maybe it’s age or maybe it’s stubbornness, but I can’t image not having a real book in hand.
Best to you
