wind lifts, skies darken, leaves to yellow,
white sand memories of kicking foam,
and the tides rush in, crashing sandcastles
we built when you were small;
we made mountains, rivers, moats and firmaments against the encroaching tides,
a spirit of togetherness at the seacoast or Walden,
when we were working out problems
or just having a good time;
memories of your childhood
now cast toward the ether,
as wind lifts, skies darken, leaves to yellow,
portend nature's seasons;
time marches on,
you, a man; your sister, a woman,
leave for your own seasons as wind lifts, skies darken, leaves to yellow,
and white sand memories turn to white snow memories;
you'll bring your children
to the seacoast or Walden,
where white sand memories of kicking foam,
of tides rushing in, crashing sandcastles we shall one day build,
and make mountains, rivers,moats and firmaments against the encroaching tides,
the spirit of togetherness enjoined in keeping our family together,
as wind lifts, skies darken, leaves to yellow;
but nature's seasons march on toward the eternal winter,
that final sleep that closes our eyes yet keeps open our hearts,
stills our blood and gives our souls eternal voice,
as wind lifts, skies darken, leaves to yellow,
white sand memories forever engrained in marble, our souls.

to the seacoast or Walden,
where white sand memories of kicking foam,
of tides rushing in, crashing sandcastles we shall one day build I loved these lines which shows the texture of memories beautifully.
It hits a chord with me as I have young grand children and these thoughts flit around my head too.
I hadn't seen this before, but this revision is beautiful.
thank you for this.

Thank you very much for sharing this.
I needed something like this to read because I just found out that one of my grandmother's is very ill and she may not be able to fight everything thats going on.
She almost died in November of last year but Thanksgiving day she did a complete turn around.
She just turned 88 last month and I can't bear the thought of losing her.
Blessings ~
Rene
I love this one. But it makes me sigh deeply and appreciate life all the more.
Thank you, Renee and Ramzy.
