I always loved to write. I used to write silly short stories and read them to my brothers and sisters (I am the oldest of 5!!) I remember being in Jr. High and looking out the windows of my classroom composing poetry in my head - in between taking history or science notes, of course. I won some poetry and fiction contests in middle school and high school. Writing became something I lost myself in as I became a teenager. It was a world I could control and develop all by myself. I loved reading L.M. Montgomery when I was 13 and 14 (she wrote Anne of Green Gables and many others). Many of her characters had vivid imaginations and grand desires to be writers. This led to my grand desires. But I had other goals in mind as I got older. I still wanted to write great fiction but also non-fiction. I studied history in college and ended up teaching Jr. High for four years. During college, I got married and had son #1. Obviously, the fiction writing went to the wayside. But my essay writing excelled during this time. I won academic awards for my writing. But after baby #2 came along and I was able to stay home again, I took to writing once more. It all started with me just wanting to write a story I wanted to read and have my sisters read. It had nothing to do with publishing. And now it is a part of my everyday life and my first book released December 15th. My 2nd novel comes out this summer with Wild Rose Press.
So, what brought you down your road to writing??
