My novella, The Spirit of Christmas, is going to be published. It will be released this Christmas with a tentative date of December 15th. Check out my web site for more information at www.cindykgreen.com. I have placed the Prologue up here at Gather for everyone to read. If you have seen it already, I made some edits today. The story for this success is different than most because this all happened practically overnight. I have a couple completed books that I have queried out, and I am still waiting on a response. (And I probably will be for a long time.) But this book came about because Rebecca Goings encouraged me to check out her publisher By Grace Publishing (http://www.bygracepublishing.com/). I saw that they were looking for Christmas books and decided to write one for that purpose.
I made the decision on a Saturday night and outlined my story in a detailed chapter by chapter outline along with character sketches for my two characters. Now it being a novella, there isn't as much detail and character development as there is in a full novel. So, I felt ready to start writing this book that same night. And the book practically wrote itself; it took six days. I've never written anything so fast in my entire life. Then I took about 4 days to edit and then sent my synopsis and first three chapters in to the publisher. I heard back from them the same day. I took the weekend to edit the books some more since they wanted to see the full manuscript. Then a couple days later, I received word that they wanted to contract my book. And here I am.
So, take a look at my prologue and check back at my website. It is still in construction, but I have a blog going that will cover my whole first publishing venture. I'll look for you there.
