I have yet to SEE one of his plays. Tyler really got noticed with his books.
Mary J. Blige has a VOICE that gets more POWERFUL as the years roll by. Her singing on the Trailer is an ATTENTION grabber!

My wife is about to drag me to go see Tyler Perry's latest flick: I Can Do Bad By Myself. Ok, first: can't knock the hustle. TP has a proven record of success at the box office, and he does strive to provide positive black entertainment, which is hard to come by. So, kudos to the man for that.
The only problem I have is that aside from Why Did I Get Married, and The Family That Preys, aren't all his movies the same movie? Basic plot: bitter woman goes through hard times, man sent from heaven arrives, only to be mistreated because she can't trust men, madea shows up to talk smart and get some laughs, someone sings a gospel song, woman learns lesson, gets with man, happy days, the end.
I have a pretty good feeling that's exactly what I'm going to be watching tonight. So forgive me if I'm not exactly enthused. I just feel like I've seen it all before. Several times, in fact.
So, Tyler Perry -how 'bout something new?
Lewis ~ "Why did I get Married" (like you said, didn't have the same plot) -- no Gospel singing in it, no Madea. And, "The Family That Preys" ~ I didn't SEE. I guess I'll have to check that one out. Tell us about that one.
HOWEVER, I heard this one was really, REALLY GOOD! Am I wrong about it? Did you find anything NEW and REDEEMING about it?
Poddar and Dawn did you both SEE this movie?
If you have, let us know what your thoughts are about it. {smiles} ~ At least, I hope you have "smiles" after SEEing it ~ L O L.
love is virgin
You know, leave it to Lewis to bring the just of Tyler's movies into VIEW ~ lol.
I have to say that I look at his movies from several different views. I look at all the things I'd absolutely slap somebody for doing in person, and all the emotion that surrounds certain scenes because they are so true to life. For instance, the scene on the plane in "Why Did I Get Married" when actress Jill Scott has to get off of the plane because of her weight, and her so~called husband's response. OH, but FOR SURE, I would have sat in him and jumped up and down on him right on that plane! You SEE what I mean -- I get ALL INVOLVED (lol). That was such a hurtful scene. And, it also brings attention to the movie viewers of what people go through with regard to some things that they may not ever have to deal with.
And Tyler's Family Reunion movie when the old men were looking at their OWN RELATIVES at the picnic ~ PIGS! If I ever saw that happen for real, they'd never do that again!
Thanks for commenting, and come back and tell us about "The Marriage Counselor"!
I like your new icon but I shall miss seeing the all seeing eye.
You should really SEE Tyler's movies Lee. I think you'd share a really good REVIEW of them with us.
