MPR's Morning Show recently hosted some of this year's talent:
Jon Vezner, Celeste Krenz, and Lindsay Mac record for North House Folk School by Dale Connelly, Minnesota Public Radio, Jim Ed Poole, Minnesota Public Radio
September 26, 2006
Several years ago, Nashville songwriter Jon Vezner was on a fishing trip near Grand Marais, Minnesota when his father became ill. While waiting for his dad to recuperate, Jon stumbled upon the North House Folk School and fell in love with the arts school and its mission on the beach of Lake Superior. For the past five years, Jon has gathered some other musician friends together to perform a concert to help raise funds for the school.
This year's "Unplugged V: The Northern Harvest" takes place Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, right at the peak of the fall color season on the North Shore. This year Vezner brought performers Celeste Krenz and Lindsay Mac with him to the Morning Show studio to play a few songs for Dale and Jim Ed and talk about the event.
I'm considering the trip up the shore with my family this week-end. I have heard a lot about the school and support their mission. Besides, if the weather's good, I can't imagine a better family week-end activity. My youngest daughter has a burgeoning interest in music that I would like to support.
There will by specialty food, music and craft workshops for the whole family to enjoy during this three day event. Visit the North House's Web site for more information about events and ticket prices.
Featured musicians this year include: Michael Johnson ("Bluer than Blue"), Jon Vezner, Celeste Krenz, and Lindsay Mac.
