I attended an afternoon tea party (real tea, not the political nonsense) the other day with several of my friends and this dish was served along with several other tasty goodies. I haven't eaten this in years and remembered that I had the receipe and thought I would share it with my gather friends. It's good, enjoy.

Mexican Fudge (or Mexican Cheese Fudge)

1 lb. Cheddar Cheese - grated
1 lb. Monterey Jack Cheese - grated
1 cup evaporative milk

In separate bowl beat milk, flour, eggs, and finely chopped jalapeno peppers together until well blended
Pour misture evenly over cheeses
---
Bake 35 to 40 minutes in 350° oven.
Cool and cut into squares and serve.

Okay, I came here looking for something containing chocolate and lots of sugar, and here I find this ... healthy stuff! LOL! Actually sounds good.
I would like that =)
Oh, oh, oh.....warning, Lee! Be VERY careful about posting recipes.....you just MAY get "flagged!" I'm not posting them anymore.........it seems like recipes aren't supposed to be posted anymore, or that's what it sounds like to me.
This does sound great, though!
You can post them as long as you did what Lee did, she told a little story and made it original. Gather is cutting down on copy and paste, you won't earn points for the "copy and paste" content any longer.
There are a lot of cooking groups and recipe groups on here that are devoted to recipes. Are they going to be done away with?
Ahhh, that makes more sense. Maybe I should have elaborated on the tea party. Nah, no one wants to know what old ladies laugh about. LOL
I doubt it, I am no expert but from now on if you want to earn points for stuff you post there needs to be something original in it. Being as this is new nothing is set in stone - but based on what I know Lee you are good. You told a lovely story about the tea party so it's not just a "cut and paste" article. If you were to only put the recipe than yes a mad flagger could flag you. It's up to Gather what they do as far as the points then. They can now take back points.
But again Lee - I think you are good. :0)
I love cheese but not sure if I am adventurous enough to try this... :0) Maybe if we renamed it something other than fudge.
I was a young woman the first time I tried this and it was called Mexican Fudge then and still is as far as I know.
When I think fudge I think chocolate, cheese and chocolate don't mix well in my mind. Not saying it wouldn't be good but i'd have to put on my daring lipstick and the dangerous high heels to try it! :0)
LOL --- I threw away my dangerous high heels several years ago and my daring lipstick might scare small children. LOL
Chocolate cheese is goooood.
Well She's certainly getting top feature in Family Friendly Foods & Recipes!! I had to stop shaking with anxiety and temptation after reading this. Fantastic stuff and I am DEFINITELY going to do this.
Hello Katie Scatlett O. (whose name I truly love), you'll like it. I think that the canned jalapenos are being used now instead of the fresh ones. My recipe is an old one and you can even buy the chesse already graded, my how times have changed.
I once had a chocolate cheese ball at Christmas time and it was fantastic. Chocolate and cheese go better than most people would think. This fudge sounds fantastic!
Seeeee, I told you chocolate and cheese were good together, now Tina K. says so too, so it's official, it's true. Woo Hoo for chocolate cheese.
Thanks for the comment Tina.
It sounds very good
The recipe is great thanks. I noticed there was no seasoning of any kind, will it be okay if i add a dash of salt or something to it?
It really doesn't need any, but the recipe is so forgiving that you can almost add what you want. One friend of mine puts salsa in it when she makes it.
Thank you
Sounds good will have to try it
looks good, but I wanted Chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!
awww it looks so yummy
I expected to see chocolate...hhhmmmm lol
I was thinking chocolate also! This looks soooo good! Thank you for the recipe...it's being added to my growing list of favorites from Gather. ;)
I will print this out and try it. sounds yummy!
sounds good thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the recipe but I am not sure I will try this one. I want chocolate. LOL
I like chocolate too, but our hostess didn't serve chocolate fudge. She did have a very large chocolate cake and many other snack type goodies, but it had been a long time since I had tasted the mexican fudge. Try it, you'll like it, so will your husband. It's easy to make.
Who actually wrote this recipe? Is it original content? LOL..I am totally just messing with you...in regards to the Gather changes...it does sound great Lee..Thanks for sharing it.
he, he, he. I typed it out all by myself. Would you rather hear about the tea party? It was fun and the Mexican Fudge was delicious. LOL
Well, uummmm Maybe, Might, Possibly, I could try this. It will definately be a first. I mean, I have always told my boys to try new things at least once. We do like cheese. I'm game. I turned on my copy machine. Here it comes.......
Hey Lee, Is this a Southwestern recipe? Mexican?
I haven't got a clue if it's southwestern or not, sure sounds like it doesn't it. I just know that it's a very old recipe and was reminded how good it was when I had a taste of it the other day. I'll bet your husband will like this one too. It's so easy to make. It's fun to serve at a gathering for a snack type food.
I might have to try this...Thanks Lee...
I'll let you know how we like this as soon as I get all of the drool off of my keyboard!! YUMMM!
We make something very similar during the holidays. We call them "Cheese Bombs" and rather than jalapenos, we put in crushed red pepper flakes. We also press them out with a large star cookie press, in long lines. After baking they just break apart in pieces about 3 inches long. Oh so good! This recipe looks easier than mine, actually.
THANKS!!!
Oh Lee, yummy. Thanks for the recipe, going to give this a try.
Cheesy fudge is not what I expected but it sounds sooo good - I love Mexican food!
looks good :) love fudge
thanx for postin' :)
Yummy! Excellent Article, thanks so much! Can't wait to try this myself.
that sounds wonderful! I'll have to try it

It sounds wonderful, but 1c of jalapeno's is alot huh? Is it real spicy? And I have to ask, was it iced tea or hot tea at the tea party??? lol
Many people just use the canned jalapenos now and I don't think that a small can of them even makes a full cup. My recipe is very old, you can even buy the cheese already shredded now, there was a time when you couldn't. I have a friend who substitutes mild salsa (drained) for the jalapenos. The spicy taste is what gave it the "Mexican" name, otherwise it would just be cheese fudge.
We have "real" tea parties which means hot tea. We have learned the art of serving tea too. We even bring out the cloth napkins for these occasions. But when it's our turn to host the tea party we usually offer an alternative such as coke or juice. Never iced tea at a tea party, that would be rude. LOL It's really just a fun time for a small group of friends to meet and discuss family, politics and life. We even have prayer and we submit prayer requests and pray about them too. Then it disolves into the tea party and nice gossip. I'm a loner type person and enjoy being by myself and the tea parties offer me the chance to socialize with a group without giving up my hermit status. LOL
It sounds like great fun! I've never been to a "real" tea party but would love to! My card club has looked for alternative things to do, when we want to get together, but now necessarily play cards so this might be it!! I'm going to research it a little more online & see if this Ohio girl can learn a southern trick or two!! lol Thanks Lee!
It's good finger food but maybe a desert plate and salad fork would be nice if you are playing cards, so the cards won't get messy.
yummy but no peppers for me please
Man! This looks great!
