"I heard that Gather will soon be freeing up some new group names....how can I grab one of these great group names for myself?"On February 24, Gather will begin removing groups owned by inactive members. Therefore, these group names (URLs) will then be available for use by other members in the community. Currently, Gather is releasing the groups of members that have not signed in to Gather since August 1, 2008 (approx.).
Here is a sample listing of some of the excellent group names that may be available on, or after Feb 24:

While you cannot be assured of obtaining your group of choice, you can significantly increase your chances by identifying your selections prior to their pending release date.
Therefore, search for groups having a theme matching your intended group choice. Then identify the last sign-in date of the group owner. If their last sign-in date was within July, 2008 or earlier then there is an excellent chance that their groups will be released on the 24th.
However, please note that Gather may reserve some group names for their own use.
You may further aid your search by limiting the scope to groups created 2 or 3 years ago, via the link below:

...or groups created by individuals that are no longer valid members:
Groups Created by Deleted/Removed Members
Similar to obtaining seats to a premium concert, the best group names will go quickly and are only available on a "first come, first served" basis.

I'm sorry that you're having difficulties with Gather. I agree that the removal by Gather of some of your comments probably wasn't justified. I've had many comments removed myself...even for asking simple questions. Gather often takes a knee-jerk approach to support and service decisions.

I was not catnapping when Kevin published this. I was outside (where it is a whopping 5 degrees) feeding the barnies. :o)
I haven't noticed photos being added without moderation when added to a group but I rarely look back the the old pages anyway.
Some day, Gather will fix the Groups.
However, I haven't been back to check and see if they showed up - so maybe...
I believe the "all the album photos are not sent when a new photo is added" deal is a new deal since the group upgrade. Now that the photos from those albums are already in the group, they ALL simply bypass the moderation queue.
I'm going to have to go try your "today's ah-ha", that sounds like fun!!
If not for Gather's glitches and lack of intuitive site design, what would we ever talk about?
I can see value (to members and Gather) in using a numbered trouble ticket as the basis for communication involving problems/questions...but that shouldn't preclude them from responding through other means.
I hope you're able to reach an accord with them and get all of your questions answered.
Maybe they could use some honey?

What 'history' are you referring to?
You might try the following folder, replacing the account name with the account name you are interested in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<your account name>\Local Settings\History
more...
As for your first question, are you certain that the notification you received was for the same comment posted to the same content?
Have you checked the member's profile feed to see if multiple copies of the same comment appear there?
I am having trouble Featuring in The Triple Name Club.
I don't have this trouble with my Wednesday Writing Essential articles from the Gather Writing Essential, but only in the Triple Name Club.
I tried Featuring in all my groups and all of them were fine.
EXCEPT the Triple Name Club.
I have only been able to Feature in the Triple Name Club on occasion. Very idiosyncratic, not something I do that is particular.
I can remove but not Feature.
This is a problem being experienced by several group owners/moderators...and mentioned above as well. It is a glitch that hopefully will be resolved soon. There is really nothing you or group members can do to prevent it, except to wait patiently while Gather works to address the problem.
However, it may still be helpful to Gather to receive a Member Support form from you detailing the problem. Be certain to include the group username (zoomit.gather.com) in your report to them.

What happens when you try to feature content?
Does it not show up as featured?
Does it show up as featured, but only after a period of time?
Do you receive an error message?
Does the content listing for the content display an "unfeature" link beneath the title, as though the content was featured?
Does this affect only one type of content (posts, photos, etc.), or all content?

Sassy, with temps like that I am surprised you and the 'barnies' haven't frozen to death. I would probably still be in the bed if the temps were like that here!!!!! Let me know when you are heading south...........guestroom is ready, truck is fueled up and Buckwheat is awaiting!!!
When you open your content moderation queue, do you see a photo there?
...or do you only see a number on your group's home page telling you have one?
Have you tried turning off your Guarded Viewing filter?

Is it correct Gather procedure for non-members of a semi-private group to be able to see, on their 'friends update' feed, when someone joins the group conversation of that semi-private group? Or should such activity not be visible to non-members?
