Awwww...sending your babies to school for the first time is always hard. ((((Hugs))))

I think we have so many more anxieties for the little angels than they. But I feel for you, because when the little ones start school, it is one of the saddest days for me. I know that they are growing up, and it seemed only like yesterday, they were still just a perfect little angel just home from the hospital.

She'll do just fine -- it's always hardest on us as moms to send them off. But I bet she will have a lot of fun and meet some neat new friends!

I think the friends will be the best part for her. Her only real friend is her cousin who lives in Las Vegas!

She will probably have a million things to tell you tonight when she gets home. It is hard sending them off.

Let us know how she liked it,What an exciting time in her life.I remember my babys first day of pre school and then kindergarten she loved it.

My son will be 5 in this Oct ...I faced this situation last year...First he cried not to go to the school but now he doesn't wanna sit at home even on weekends.

My daughter is only 16 months and I'm dreading sending her to school already, lol!! I can't imagine when the day actually comes. I am a teacher on break right now for my family, but I remember so many moms dropping their kids off and reassuring them it will be ok. I hope she has fun!!!

Thank you all so much for the reassurance. I actually dropped her off about an hour and a half ago. She looked a little scared, but she wasn't going to say anything. I cried like a big sap the whole way out! I didn't dare cry in front of her! She will be home off the bus @ about 3:45pm. I'm so anxious. I told her brothers they have to sit with her on the bus!

don't worry if she sees you upset she may become upset

I know! That's why I fought the teare until I was in the parking lot!

my great grand daughter did the kindergarten thing last year and graduation was this spring,,, She did good, we didn't, We had fear, and didn't need it because she is smarter then we had given her credit,,, your daughter will amaze you,,, one day at a time, remember,,, hugs,

I felt the same way as you did last year. My little man is going into 1st grade this year!

His first day of school, I cried like a big old baby ALL day long!

And he came home all excited! I'm sure your daughter will do the same!

So, did you survive? Did she? Was she still excited when she got home?

I went through this 2 years ago and it was difficult (I only have 1 child) Now we are headed into 2nd grade and I can't wait! LOL

It gets easier with time...

she did have a blast! She was so happy to see me~ she almost forgot to get off the bus!

ok moms, explain this. You weep all over the first day of school ... and nine months later you curse the last day of school and can't wait to send them back ...

not the case for me! I love the last day of school! No more getting up at the crack of dawn to get them ready! I can sleep in!

and wanted me there too! She is just the most precious little girl you could ever meet!

As I told Alainia, it is so hard to let go of that little hand

because it is the start into adulthood and we don't want to let go of our babies.

I think if it was up to us mothers, we would keep them babies forever!

I can still remember letting go of my baby girl's hand and that was 25 years ago. It is something we will never forget. Part of motherhood!

I felt the same way last year. My middle son started Kindergarten last year. He was so tiny and I couldn't image him going to school. but here it is a year later...he starts 1st grade on Monday. I still can't believe it.

I guess there is an underlying reason for my being reproductively challenged. I would be a freaking wreck! And my poor kid would get tired of mommy on her back all day.

That is really sweet. My neice started this year . Although she isn't mine. I watched her a lot when she was a baby so it just seemed werid to see her now going to school this year. She likes it so far.

Starting off on the right foot



I've been wondering if we're making it clear enough to kids why they go to school and what it's supposed to be about. It's not clear evidently to a large bunch of the public school population, IMO. This maybe even applies to teaching staffs and principals, so hassled with administration and discipline. I see preschool is gaining traction but I'd like to see it spelled out very clearly in a rap with the kids from day one at preschool and/or kindergarten when they're getting oriented and calmed down: that school is for learning, it's their job, just like everybody else has a job. That means 1) listening to teachers, 2) paying attn, trying to understand and 3) asking questions if they don't. School is supposed to be interesting and fun, but listening and learning is the most important thing about school. This means after school too, when they're home; talking about lessons with mom, dad or anybody. It shouldn't be just in one ear and forget about it, let's go watch TV, playing our video games-- anything else but school. What school is supposed to be about should be reinforced throughout the school years, it seems too easily forgotten: School is about listening, learning, trying to understand. It's not only about hanging out with friends, playing cards, looking cool, hair, clothes, and all the rest. Reinforcement sessions should be given after every school vacation, in the form of quizzes, essays and dicussions, to keep everybody on the same page.
