I posted my first, rather remedial, food photos to my Gather.com blog to coincide with a recipe I adapted from another Gather.com poster (see attached). It was hurried and fairly unimaginative (I was hungry!). Last night I got to talking with my sister Heather, who recently landed a gig as a food photographer with The Columbian newspaper (a daily in Vancouver, Wash., that I believe won the Pulitzer Prize for photography). As a newer food photographer, but accomplished lifestyle and home interior photographer, she shared with me some of the common struggles in capturing this new "subject."
Hence, I set out to find some tips to improve my later food photo postings and possibly help her, if needed. I found it at FoodPortfolio.com. It's a blog site written by a professional food photographer. It walks readers through the process of composing, lighting and designing food scenes, shot by shot. It also includes little tricks of the trade -- like what to use to make a beer bottle look icy and the fact that, for food photographers, beer and wine (when used first as props) IS a tax write-off.
Thought I'd pass this along to all of you!

Indeed. Thank you Lisa for bringing the world a little closer! Michael is an incredible photographer, and I am very grateful he's willing to share his tips and tricks of the trade.
also want to tell you thank you very much for sending me the award on my Sepia photo of my husband and son in the park. That was a pleasant surprise and I appreciate it VERY much. Have a nice day! :o)
