What did you think of the debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin?
Was it what you expected?
Who do you think won?
Did the debate change your mind about what ticket you are voting for?
What are your thoughts?
Like the first McCain/Obama debate, I will stay out of this one.

Was it what you expected? Yes Pretty much
Who do you think won? Neither
Did the debate change your mind about what ticket you are voting for? Not at all
What are your thoughts? I can't wait until the election is over. I enjoy politics but I am so tired of it.
Palin dodged about every question, tried to be folksy and connect with people. It's a lot better than being incoherent. She improved a lot. But from where she started, not too hard to improve.
I think who ever wins in November we're all going to have to bend over and hope for the best.
On the other hand I expected Joe Biden would sound good and he did.
Biden won because she has not convinced me she is ready to be VP, she would make a great televangelist though.
I have already decided who I will vote for, so this did not persuade me to change that.
I came away from the debate the impression of having heard her repeat, for 90 minutes, "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party", "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party", "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party" "So help me God".
Stock andswers and talking points came from Palin.
Biden, I thought did very well at answering the questions asked, as well as rebutting anything that Palin claimed concerning the Obama/Biden ticket. I also thought he handled her with kid gloves, and allowed her to talk on and on, knowing that all of what she was saying will be on tape, for future use.
Biden won the debate.
The political debate was interesting, more so than the dreadful ones this year. It was civil and not , shall I as say, as playing down to the audience. Give credit to the moderator and both politicians.
Palin was allowed to speak for herself by the McCain people and she connected with the audience in the hall and I think with those watching/listening on TV-radio . She is a skillful politician and got across that she is fighter and in touch with Main Street. She won the day.
It wouldn't change my vote. I would choose Obama over McCain.
Biden was eloquent in sharing about being a single parent-which was the most surprising thing in the evening. He definitely knows the isues and intelligent. She's folksy and likeable-to people who don't care.
After the debate I heard one of the broadcasters describe it as "boring but right verses exciting and wrong" and I believe they are right in their assessment.

What did you think of the debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin?
Both candidates performed quite well, I expected Biden to do well and am surprised (as indicated above) how Palin performed.
Was it what you expected?
No, per my opinion expressed above
Who do you think won?
"boring but right verses exciting and wrong"
Did the debate change your mind about what ticket you are voting for?
No but, it reinforced my dedication and support
What are your thoughts?
I believe the one issue of importance that came out is Palin's suggestion of expanding the authority of the vice-president's office, following Cheney's example
Like the first McCain/Obama debate, I will stay out of this one.
I hope your impartiality doesn't carry all the way to the voting booth. You do plan on voting in this election, right ?
I can't say the same for old Joe Biden. He seemed stiff, stilted, and spoke much like he was giving the speech of his life on the Hill. Also, he probably had Botox injections into his forehead to make himself look younger to connect to the younger voter. Shallow isn't it? Yeah. If you doubt this, check out a websearch with Joe Biden photos. You can find them if you are so inclined. If not, you can link the two sites I did from my article. The second photo I have provided comes from tonight's debate, you can see a real difference in his looks and folks, it ain't too good! : )
I agree greg, my thought throughout the debate was :
Joe should have explained to her, I have lived these issues and worked alongside mccain how can you tell me how I feel about john, when you just met john mccain six months ago ? Then remind her he worked and voted on the bills she's talking about.
Are you suggesting the American people should cower and give in to fear and intimidation because of a few "groups out there" ? We should restrict our growth as a society because of evil men with evil intentions? Isn't that what Usama bin Laden tried ?
America needs well informed citizen doing the actual voting.
How many times was the moderators question directly answered ???
She dismissed the moderators questions and spouted only the points she wanted to speak about. Will she treat the laws and Constitution in the same way as she treated the boundaries and rules of this debate ? Agree to them then discard them once the bell sounds ?
Failin' did as expected (not bad after a month of intensive coaching) even though she did NOT answer any of the questions that were put to her .
Sarah kept repeating irrelevant facts and snipets without directly answering EXACTLY what McSame would do different than Shrub.
Biden failed by being too much the gentleman and by NOT pointing out that in Johnnies OWN words, he VOTED WITH SHRUB OVER 90% of the time!
Althought Biden DID point out Failin's inability to point to any actual policy differences between the 2 old rich white elephants, Sarah deftly evaded all substantial questions by both the moderator (the person who's questions ARE supposed to be answered) and her opponent.
As for Sarah's goal to further expand on the powers Usurped by the current VP,
I hope someone can provide her with a copy of the Constitution so she can read what the VP's duties actually are as well as the prohibition on creating her own job description.
God help the Republic
So she won over the conservatives because she didn't look quizically at the moderator while crickets chirped. But since her task had been moved from persuading democrats and independents, to convincing her own party that she isn't a simpleton, she lost. And worse yet for the GOP, they walk away thinking they won because they quelled the GOP revolt.
This was like a football team losing 56-0 and deciding in the 4th quarter that they were not going to be shut out. So they kicked a field goal with 4 seconds left, lost 56-3 and called it a win. All she did was to convince the members of her party not to throw her off of the bus.
where Sarah Pailin's Pregnant Daughter and her (self proclaimed) "a** kickin', tough as h*ll redneck" Boyfriend were?
Didn't happen to notice THEM up on the stage anywhere.
Wonder why?
Maybe he was busy impregnating teenage girls while beating the crap out of a gay minority member with his Confederate Flag belt buckle?
Second, anyone can cram for an exam but leading the country (or being 2nd in command) is not one of those things you can learn how to do in a month. I really expected a little more of the usually "foot in her mouth" Sarah we know and love to loath ... but her staff did a good job of providing her with appropriate sound bites and retorts. She does know how to milk that soccer mom thing for all it's worth, doesn't she?
Last, this debate only confirmed for me how scared I am that anyone but Obama/Biden might win! I'm not normally paying as close attention to the election as I am this year ... but desparate times call for desparate measures ... and McCain is just more of the same.
Biden will make a much better vice-president because he has actually done a lot of things in his career. He won the debut with both hands tied behind his back because he was determined to be a gentleman. And he was.
Was it what you expected? - pretty much
Who do you think won? - Biden
Did the debate change your mind about what ticket you are voting for? - Nope
What are your thoughts? - see above
What the h*ll is she talking about.
After being kept miles away from the press for a month, she totally blows the only 2 (real) interviews she has.
Catie and Charlie are not exactly attack dogs, but she still failed miserably with them!
As for the 'other' "interview" on FIXED NOISE well, planned cheer- leading doesn't really count as an interview now does it?
I'll be clearer: I do expect to get a picture taken with President Obama.
I hope, I hope, I hope!
Joe Biden delivered, arguably the most brilliant debate of his entire career.
I agree with Ron. He was absolutely flawless. When he broke down, speaking of the devastating loss of his wife and baby girls, so did I; when he spoke of being a single parent, he humanized himself; those were moments in the debate I'll never forget --very poignant.
Can't touch that.
Biden won.
Palin is my governor. I have been in Alaska during 6 other governors. Of the three democrats, 2 republicans, and 1 Alaska Indenpendence party governors before her, ZERO have had the guts to take on big oil. Zero have had the guts to criticize Exxon directly. Palin had been criticized by conservatives because of the dramatic tax increase on the oil companies. The oil companies (Exxon especially) have lobbied against the increases with their slogan "Jobs not Taxes," but she hasn't backed down. She has a 60 % approval rating among democrats in the state (80 % overall) for a reason. How many US senators or congressman have pushed for taxes on the massive profits due to the extreme high price of oil?
She has taken on her own party. They said she committed political suicide by taking on her own party about 4 years ago, but she did anyway. In fact, the most vocal "Palin haters" you read about include conservative Republicans. Lyda Green and Andrew Halcro to name two. The reason she has gotten legislation through is because she has had most of the democratic minority voting with her along with a block of the republicans in the state house and senate.
Unlike most politicians, when she speaks about working families, she has been part of one. Her husband is a union worker on the north slope and she went to and her kids go to public schools. There are a number of teachers in her extended family. She eliminated the "Governor's Chef" position. She said she didn't want to take someone's job away, but she didn't see why someone had to cook for the governor's family everyday. Remember the first George Bush "wow, that's neat," when he went to a store and saw the cashier scan groceries during the campaign for re-election. No wonder Clinton beat him. How out of touch, basically acknowledging he hadn't been shopping for food even once for many years. Talk about out of touch. She might have gotten caught off guard during this campaign by reporters, but she is more in touch with the rest of us (real people) than most other politicians can even pretend to be. Not saying to vote for her and McCain. There are some here now saying we win either way. If Obama wins, we get our governor back.

Aside from that, Palin's avoiding questions, with, "Let me go back too ___________" annoyed me as did her folksiness when it became obviously a ploy.
Otherwise, while Palin did better than I expected, Biden was clearly the winner and the only one of the two candidates who appeared ready to be president should the need arise.
Steven S., Oct 3, 2008, 2:32am EDT"
Steven the lower 48 will be more than happy to send your governor back to you. Enjoy.
She has a 60 % approval rating among democrats in the state (80 % overall) for a reason.
You know there was a moment where I said Huh?????????????
Sarah Palin was talking about TAXES, she even dismissed the moderator saying she may not answer how Gwen or Joe wanted. She tried to slam Obama/Biden by calling their tax plan of giving 95% of Americans a tax break, redistribution of wealth.
Exactly what would you call the Alaskan citizens receiving funds from Oil Wealth ?
Wouldn't that be redistribution of wealth ?
Both were very good at dodging the questions. Can't say as I was charmed by Palen's folksy manner. She even skirted the subject of "what is the Vice-president's job?" Biden definitely beat her on that one.
My feeling at the end of the speech was, I'd probably been better off watching Ghost Wisperet.
To my mind Palen is an entertainer, not a possible president. Not now. Not ever. Anyone who can't say the word nuclear any better than Geroge Bush still has much to learn.
I didn't care for the idea of bringing the families onto the stage.
As for the Canadiand debate, it consisted of the other four party reps attacking, blaming and bad-mouthing Prime Minister Harper. He kept his cool, and many of the pundits interpreted that as his being cold hearted. Nonsense. I'm just hoping for someone who can govern well.
And then, after they all got through spitting at Harper, they turned one by one and did kissyface with the rep of the Green Party. Nauseating. (Urp.)
Secondly, I thought the debate was anti-climatic, and only did Palin good as she held her own. Biden is a gentleman and was not forced to be nice. The whole question of her being a woman should not enter this arena. She is a person who is running for vice-president, and should be judged and voted for or against based on that alone. I am voting for her, but feel a whole lot better about Biden.
The End!

Wendy Wright's comments are 'dead-on' right ! ; )
It was obvious Biden had the more experience and it was harder to tell whether his delivery was also an act. That’s probably the difference between a good and a not so good actor.
They pretty much towed the line on policy, so that wasn’t my main reason for watching. I wanted to see who gave me more confidence in their ability to be president should the need arise. On that front Biden won by a mile. Pallin seemed like a very competent aid, but not leadership material, at least not yet.
Actually a portion of the oil that comes out of the ground goes to Alaska. Half goes into a fund that has been invested. The profits only then are distributed as a dividend. Dividends have been distributed for 27 years, so nothing new.
The tax increase has been written to increase when the price increases and not punish the oil companies at lower prices where they have less profit. Palin pushed for a one time $1200 payment to every Alaskan this year to offset fuel (gasoline, heating, etc) with the increased revenue the state received. Virtually every democratic legislator voted for that.
The tax restructuring also had the vote of virtually every democratic legislator.
and John.
Palin was very friendly and only stumbled a few times.. i kept wondering though was that the real Sarah? Or was it spin from the spin doctors?
Joe was Joe .. i did enjoy the debate .. still am confused about who to vote for .. or not vote.. i got so upset when i voted for Al Gore and he was stripped his votes to be pushed out by the electoral college , when rightfully in my opinion he should have been president as ' we the people voted for him',, so anyway.. got sick of politics as usual and did not vote last election ... seems it would not have mattered in a way.. what rights do we have as voters when the electoral college can step in?
I'm not the brightest person ever, it seems tho we are losing tiny little pieces of our freedom each day.. as for the debate it was entertaining and amusing .. hope Sarah had someone back home looking out over the straight at Russia, keeping an eye on them.. honestly, they most likely do need a close eye check.
Peace
I will have to look for the article again.

A: The remarks about Palin's daughter's boyfriend come from HIS own myspace page.
B: The names I have seen being spewed by people supporting McSame are not only nasty, but they also use racism and plenty of lies as well to try and make points with their core voters.
C: Sorry your so bitter, but your candidate IS going to lose anyway.
D: What EXACTLY Is so offensive to you about my quoting Bristol's boyfriends web page?
Is it because your kind does not appreciate the truth?
Or is it because you can dish it out, but you just can't take it?
E: Or is it because (in YOUR OWN WORDS) You are a PIG WITHOUT LIPSTICK?
F ALL OF THE ABOVE!
I thought so!
Linda, I hope you have a good life.
Being we are both Americans, and you being a McCain supporter, I am sure you can raise above the lie filled rhetoric of your candidates ad's and 'work across the aisle' with those of us who disagree with your point of view.
Ya, I knew better than to expect that from the likes of you.
;)
