The past few days have given Hilary Clinton new ammunition to fire at Barack Obama. He comments made to a working class crowd of Pennsylvanians were ill-spoken, yet based on truth. People do turn to what they best know in times of adversity. We all tend to move toward our comfort zones during such times, such as religion, guns, or any multitude of things. Did Obama's comments come out the wrong way? Yes. But they were based on truth. Does this make Obama an out of touch elitist? Of course not. It shows that he has insight into the human condition...but chose his words wrongly.
Now, let us have a look at Hilary Clinton, who is obviously looking for some desperation ammunition to fire at Obama. Why is she desperate? To take the attention off of her lies...as well as her husband's lies. Because no matter how the story is padded, the fact remains that they both lied to the American people. Not senior moment lies. Not I was too tired to think clearly lies. Not even a 1 time lie.
Hilary Clinton stood before several different crowds on more than 1 occasion and plainly stated she had to run from her plane amidst sniper fire in Bosnia. The media was all over this story because they KNEW it was a lie. How did they know? Because they were there! They were quick to show new footage of Clinton exiting the plane in Bosnia not under a hail of sniper fire...but amidst a greeting committee smiling and shaking hands.
Caught in her obvious lie, she decided to lie some more...blaming it on a lack of sleep on that particular day. (the day the press revealed the truth). But what is her excuse for the other days when she gave the sniper fire story? There is no excuse. She lied to the American people.
Not only did she lie, she did it poorly. As a candidate for the Presidency, did she really believe the press would overlook this?
Happy was she when the Reverend Wright situation threatened the Obama campaign. It took the press away from her for awhile to focus on something negative in her opponent's campaign. It also gave her more ammunition to fire his way.
And then comes Bill, trying to defend his wife. How did he defend her? By bringing up the sniper fire incident again, reiterating that she had gotten little sleep the night before. In other words, he defended her by repeating the lie that didn't work the first time around.
People chuckle about it casually and it boggles my mind. As they chuckle, they berate Obama for some ill-chosen words spoken in truth. I don't get it.
Hilary Clinton's planned out lie meant to embellish her experience overseas is a slap in the face to the American people. With each lie, she is telling us we are ignorant, uninformed and incapable of recognizing the truth from a lie. Her lie is saying she was too tired to think clearly is also a slap in the face. Even if it is true (which it isn't), is she naïve enough to believe the American people would want a President who cannot think clearly when tired? And then, finally, her husband comes along to lie some more on her behalf.
How ignorant do the Clinton's believe we are?
So the question remains. Who will win the Democratic nomination? I suppose it depends on whether you want a candidate who will coldly and calculatingly lie to your face (using horrible judgment in the process) or a candidate who ill-spoke the truth during a speech and is friends with a minister who preaches strongly for racial equality.
The answer seems obvious to me. Ugly truths are much better to me than calculated lies. Barack Obama should win the nomination.

The American people are not naive any longer...they are paying MORE attention to whats been done, what can be done and which party is more willing to do it for the majority of the Americans...they are not sweating the small stuff!
But I believe that every one of these dust ups is just and indication of the mentality of The American electorate. They would rather get all excited over non-issues like Obama's minister or if Hillery is really as soft and cuddly small town girl than they would over War and Peace, hunger and disease
An extremely well written piece My Dear as always
His tirade against Don Imus would have worked if he hadn't tried to excuse "old uncle" Jeremiah Wright's racist sermons.
If Obama and Clinton are a "dream team" we are in deep shit.
There is no doubt that I would vote for either Democrat over McCain. Perhaps the best news is that the worst president in many years has to quit come early January.
Tim
Repeat after me ....... President John McCain.
But, Denver should be fun.
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
And I agree with the orginal statements who its original form, 100%. Wish somebody else not running for president, says it again and it receives attention.
He isn't going to pull the troops out of Iraq, neither is she. They may do a drawdown, but not a sudden pull out. It's all BS to get a vote.
If you want to make a difference in the government you have to vote some of the sorry assed people like Teddy (the drunk) Kennedy out of office. Put in some people who don't owe their jobs to special interest.
Obama struts around like he can do something other than spread BS. He wasn't even a very good senator, he'll be even less as a president. He's so far left he can't even see the left.
Besides, he may have to confer with his friends in the weathermen before he can make any changes. Or maybe louis farrakhan. I'm sure he'll ask "old uncle" Jeremiah Wright what to do.
Check where his contributions come from. He's got some "special" interest friends too.
"But what has not so far been reported is that those statements preceded and were joined with additional observations that black youth in urban areas are told they are no longer "relevant" in the global economy and, feeling marginalized, they engage in destructive behavior. "
You won't hear about him calling out the inner city youth. But if can't talk about rural white Pennsylvania?

It will be interesting to see the response, if any....to his comment..
Everyone talks about Obama's lack of experience in foreign policy... but look around us, people...
Where has "experience" gotten us? Most of the world hates us because of "our" foreign policy. Maybe it's time for something different..?
