For those of you who like 2008 Presidential politics, you might be interested to know that Mitt Romney, one of the "front runners" for the Republican nomination of President in 2008, will be on "60 Minutes" tonight. Mike Wallace, a long time correspondent for CBS and "60 Minutes", interviewed him a week and a half ago (or so).
If you don't mind, please give me your reactions (both positive and negative) after you watch the interview. I'd be interested in what you think!!

I for one won't vote for Mr. Romney. He has changed too many of his important positions to pander to special groups in an attempt to get the nomination. Sort of like John McCain has done. I find that disappointing.
Maybe the cartoon network.....
It's not gonna happen.
People in my home town in MA the same home town where Romney lives (when he is in MA) voted for him for Gov. in 2002. Usually, this town is split evenly D-R, but this town did vote him in.
A year after he was elected, people in this town, said: What happened? Did he flip flop?
No, he showed his colors as a Republican.
But, they said, we voted for the man, not the party.
Big mistake. No man or woman is an island separate from their party. Campaign promises that seem uniquely outside the party are just campaign rhetoric.
But Romney and Pres? Ain't gonna happen.
We here in MA knew BEFORE 2002, heck, even before 2000 that Romney's SOLE aim in positioing himself as he did BEFORE he announced he was runing for Gov. in 2002 - was that he would use that as a stepping stone for Running for Pres. in 2008, just like his Dad made a failed run for the Oval Office, back in the day, in Michigan.
And we KNEW when Romney fixed the Utah Olympics that it was mostly out of political desire to run for the Oval Office and we KNEW that Utah benefitted vastly from the Olympics.
ANd we KNEW when Romney made a trial balloon of claiming Utah as his home state (where would his most loyal base be? Utah? Mass? )
And we KNEW when Romney spoke to people when he traveled outside of Mass that he blackballed Mass very badly, flipfopping in his views, saying Massachusetts is like a Socialist and like a Communist state.
And we KNEW that crime in Boston would go up, that school quality would go down with Romney as Gov.
And it all did.
And you know what?
Is it all good?
No, it is NOT all good.
It is all Romney.
That's all.
Romney still trails in third place, I believe.
Despite a pretty face and a polished political presence, this man is a sham and a conservative Republican to boot.
You'd better believe that Religion has a lot to do with his position in the election.
Also, we see him around town. He parks in Handicapped spaces, or parks at the bank (BANK parking only - police take notice) then goes for an hour on errands in the center or pops in and has Ice Cream.
A friend recounted a story she heard from another friend who had an autistic son and was trying to get a lot of help for several years. She had called state agencies, everybody.
She happened to sit next to Romney on an airplane. She reounted her difficulties to him and that she was not able to get anywhere with the state agencies.
He said: "That's state workers, for you."
He then opened his Economist magazine and ignored her.
Also, he is known as a prolife candidate.
We KNEW in Massachusetts when he ran for Gov. that either he had actually VOTED pro choice quite some time ago, or he had publicly spoken about being PRO CHOICE, based solely on the fact that a female relative had died before 1970 at the hands of an illegal abortionist.
And We KNEW that this salient, important fact would sooner not later get buried by the rest of politicking.
Make NO mistake: Vote Romney for Pres. and the rest of the social services you cherish in this country will be dismantled.
Utah has one of the lowest rates of social services in the nation, per capita.
Utah also has one of the highest so-called incidences of ADHD diagnoses among children, particularly boys, in the nation, due solely to unreasonably strict rules in society.
Kids gotta be kids.
Politicians gotta be politicans.
That's my response, Greg, not to 60 miutes, but to Romney.
oh, btw, I read few polls and do not follow them. Polls can be misleading.
I'm purely a subjective interpreter.
In 1976, it was clear Carter would lead the nation. In 1992, It was clear it would be Clinton.
In 1980, it was also clear Reagan would lead the nation.
Same for Papa Bush's rise.
Now, we have nobody. Somebody will win by default. Won't be Romney.
Probaly won't be Hillary or Obama, but it could be McCain.
Giuliani making stupid moves, losing both R and D votes by flip flopping.
Rest assured, no republican, least of all the most ardent supporter of the disastrous republican war in Iraq, will take the white house in 2008. The nation is through with that party for a while, thanks to 6-1/2 years of disastrously failed governance, catastrophic mismanagement, rampant corruption, monstrous abuse of power, incompetent cronyism, horrific debt, and a failed war of choice.
McCain's numbers started tanking precipitously the moment he made the decision to become Georgie's loudest cheerleader. He's tied himself to the sinking ship.
The only republican worthy of even mild consideration is Ron Paul. Chuck Hagle may be somewhat worthy, but he's got that nasty lie (and senate rules violation) about his financial interests in Diebold in his closet that will certainly cause issues for him, and it sounds as if he may leave the GOP altogether anyway.
Kathyryn... are you even aware of what a joke the rest of the nation thinks Massachusetts is? I understand that most self absorbed Massachusetts liberals have their heads to far up their own asses to realize this but it's the truth. It's the reason your boy Kerry couldn't get elected when running against an incumbent in the middle of an unpopular war with plummeting approval ratings. Massachusetts is hardly a barometer for the politics or attitude of the nation. Massachusetts was the ONLY state in the entire nation that experienced a net population loss when the last census was taken.
Oh and while you were blaming Romney for all of Massachusetts problems Kathryn...you forgot to mention that you have a very liberal Democratic legislature that is completely inept.
We're supposed to hate Romney because you have a friend that sat next to him on an airplane and he didn't kiss her ass? For every Romney story like that there 50 of Kerry or Kennedy brushing someone off or being rude. Kennedy killed a pregnant woman with his car and you guys have been re-electing him for the past 40 years.
It really is laughable that you think because you and a few of your friends in Mass don't like Romney that he has no shot. Typical Masshole.
Clark...you said
"Rest assured, no republican, least of all the most ardent supporter of the disastrous republican war in Iraq, will take the white house in 2008."
Wanna bet? If the dems nominate Hillary the Republicans win the white house regardless of who they run. It's just that simple. The current GOP candidates are not George Bush and they are running away from him as fast as they can. And Romney never voted for the war so he can't be tied down to that. The 2006 election was a referendum on the war. the 2008 election won't be no matter how much the Dems wish it would be.
Hillary is one who will never win. The Dems will most likely nominate her and she will get crushed in a landslide by Mitt Romney. And I of course will savor every second of it as it would mean we have a great new president and the end of any real influence that the Clintons have on this nation's direction. it's a two for one.
Not a chance in hell. He will never, ever pass the smell test of the Christian Taliban, for one thing, and for another, he's a habitual flip flopper. Not exactly what the nation is looking for at the moment. You're smoking something besides tobacco, if you truly believe this nonsense.
"It's the reason your boy Kerry couldn't get elected when running against an incumbent in the middle of an unpopular war with plummeting approval ratings. "
The uncovering of massive election fraud in OH in 2004 would seem to indicate that Kerry did, in fact, win, as did Al Gore in 2000. As more of this information comes to light, we'll all see a very clear pattern of fraud that not only disenfranchised hundreds of thousands of black (read: Democratic) voters, but also electronically stole votes.
"Wanna bet? If the dems nominate Hillary the Republicans win the white house regardless of who they run."
Yep. What've you got? Regardless of who the democrats nominate, they will beat whatever republican is nominated. The nation is "republiCONNED" out. After the last election, only 35% of the population admitted to being a republican, a whopping 15% drop from the previous election. This is a party that is not only completely bankrupt of ideals and ideas, but is also crippled with corruption and fraud, and the public has seen through their charade. As long as the Christian Taliban controls this party, it's dead meat on the side of the road.
"The 2006 election was a referendum on the war. the 2008 election won't be no matter how much the Dems wish it would be."
This IS a republican war. The fact that you don't see it as such doesn't change that reality in the eyes of the average American. We all saw which party shoved this illegal, stupid war down our throats, and it wasn't the democrats. Sorry, but this monstrous disaster is going to hang around the necks of the republicans forever, which couldn't be more fitting. The party that used the war for political gain is being destroyed by it. Karma can be a real bitch sometimes.
"Hillary is one who will never win. The Dems will most likely nominate her and she will get crushed in a landslide by Mitt Romney."
You're correct that she won't win the nomination, but completely delusional in thinking that Romney would beat her if she did. She's a political juggernaut. Romney is a kooky flip flopper and a virtual nobody.
"And I of course will savor every second of it as it would mean we have a great new president and the end of any real influence that the Clintons have on this nation's direction. it's a two for on"
While I can certainly agree with your latter comment, your first comment comes from la-la land. Romney simply has no qualifications to be a "great president," which is why, ultimately, he will flame out. Your party is in for a long drought. BushCheneyCorp and the Christio-nazis have done immense damage, that you apparently aren't even aware of yet. Trust me, the days of republican defeats only began in November of 2006. As more and more corruption is brought to light, more and more people will defect the party.
I'm sorry Clark. I didn't know you were a Kool Aid drinking moonbat.
I guess I'll just have to ignore from now on. Well if you're still around in 2008 when Romney gets elected I am sure I'm sure I could bring myself to say I told you so and rub it in your face but until then I'll just do what I do to all far left moveon.org types. Ignore them.
Vote for John Edwards , you know you wanna.....................;-)
He's great!
I didn't know you were an ignorant dipshit. Well, yes, I guess I did. Read and learn. You can thank me later for the enlightenment. (my money says that you won't have the courage to read a single article...don't disappoint)

"I guess I'll just have to ignore from now on."
By all means, continue to bury your head up your poop hole. Why is it that republicans are so ignorant, and so allergic to the truth?
"Well if you're still around in 2008 when Romney gets elected I am sure I'm sure I could bring myself to say I told you so and rub it in your face but until then.."
I'll be here when Mr. Flip Flopper fails to win the nomination. You can "rub my face in it" then. There'll be no need to wait until the election. Something tells me you'll be nowhere to be found when Mitten is sent packing, however. You republiCONs sort of have a reputation of being shameless cowards.
"I'll just do what I do to all far left moveon.org types. Ignore them. "
God forbid, you ever attempt to enlighten yourself on your own. Just continue believing utter nonsense, continue believing in mythical fantasies, continue to worship at the alter of a failed ideology, while ignoring reality altogether.
"Yeah vote for an ambulance chaser who is using his wife's cancer to garner votes."
This is a truly ignorant statement. Let me guess...republiCON, right? Thought so.

Again, you can thank me later for the enlightenment, at which time, I'll also graciously accept your apology for your previous rudeness.
Dana, we in Massachusetts do not care what other people think of us. We BELIEVE in our own insitutions and myths; for better or worse.
