On 3/28/07, houses around the nation will be holding a "House Party for John Edwards". It's kind of a neat idea. As George Stern, head of One Corps, states, "House parties are an easy, powerful, and fun tool to help expand our base of support and bring new resources into the campaign at this critical time. You just sign up online to host your party (and optionally create a personal fundraising goal). Then we'll give you a step-by-step guide for hosting a successful event and send you a "Meet John Edwards" DVD to show at your party. Plus, you can join a national conference call with Senator Edwards the evening of the 28th so everyone at your party can hear from him directly. Just invite your friends, bring a few snacks, and you're ready to go!"
Unfortunately my family's house is not "house party ready". Therefore in order to participate to some degree, I've created an Animals4Edwards house party celebration. Animals4Edwards is the blogtoon I've been working on to support the campaign. I post these on the John Edwards blog (http://blog.johnedwards.com/) every Sunday night (a weekly blogtoon) but in celebration of the House party idea, I'm trying to do a daily one that will culminate with the actual "musical event". The characters are putting on a musical entitled "ASK ME ABOUT JRE" but the one animal in charge is probably the least likely animal to make it work.
Doing a daily blogtoon even for 11 days is an interesting challenge because the limitation of time but because I support the campaign, this is my contribution to that end. So I wonder if the gather community had any ideas as to what songs or scenes would be in this musical. I realize fully this is potentially opening up a can of worms for non-Edwards supporters but from what I've read in the Gather community, even those with differing points of views more often than disagree without being disagreeable. And given the fun loving spirit with which this submission is intended, being negative on an idea like this wouldn't really do any negative poster any credit. So with that in mind, I would enjoy hearing fun or constructive feedback.
Submitted with this article are the first two blogtoons.
I'll submit another two or three in the next few days and so one and the actual final culmination of the effort I'll post on the 28th.
And so I close with the final thought that having a house party for one's favored candidate is a great idea if one has the capacity to throw it. John Edwards is taking the lead in these new and innovative ideas on the campaign trail and I'm very happy to show my support!

I'm so glad you're planning on attending a JRE house party locally. I hope it goes well!
...and none of us here question your sexual orientation. Truly.
Remember (all factual information from wikipedia below:)
"(for the house: The final result was a thirty-seat pickup for the Democrats, including the pickup of the Vermont At-Large seat, previously held by Independent Bernie Sanders who caucused with the Democrats. Democrats defeated twenty-two Republican incumbents and won nine open Republican-held seats. Republicans won no seats previously held by Democrats in either the House or the Senate, and it was the largest seat gain for the Democrats since the 1982 elections.
(For the Senate) Democratic candidates defeated six Republican incumbents. No Democratic incumbents were defeated.
(For Governors) Democrats won open Republican-held governorships in Colorado, Arkansas, Ohio, New York, and Massachusetts and defeated one GOP incumbent Robert Ehrlich of Maryland, while retaining all of their currently-held seats.
By the way I deleted a duplicate posting of this article. I hope you enjoy the next blogtoons. We're dealing with trying to cast "Dick Cheney". Will post it tomorrow!
If only his new house didn't have 11 bathrooms. Just a tad bit hypocritical for a man who supposedly fights for the lower class....
It's Bush Cheney and their whole crew. We're tired of party over country.
To finish off the house thing bear this in mind: The description of the JRE house was that it was 28,200 square feet of connected space but that the main house was 10,400 square feet and has two garages. In order to the large square feet figure you have to add two other barn like buildings that are connected to the house by a covered walkway. Take a look at the photo of the building here: http://carolinajournal.com/exclusives/display_exclusive.html?id=3848.
Tell me why this would be any different than Crawford texas other than this sits on 102-acre estate whereas Crawford is a 1583 acre (6.4 km²) estate
In reality, this house thing is not a real issue, its a NON-troversy.
I hope you look into JRE further when making up your mind on who to support!
Thanks once again for responding
But I will answer some of your questions.
First of all I am not sure what "income distribution" idea you're referring to. Now if you are referring to "redistribution of wealth" which is a neo-conservative talking point, often that idea is put forth whenever affluent people are required to pay taxes they owe. To answer the first issue: No, John Edwards is not a socialist.
To answer the second question, about organizations he has set up please refer to www.wade.org and www.onecorps.com. That should answer your questions there.
To answer the third basic issue regarding where John Edwards came from, he was born in Seneca, South Carolina. His father had to borrow fifty dollars to get him home from the hospital. They moved from town to town depending on where his father could find work at the textile mills in the South. When John got older he pushed a broom in one of those mills. He did overcome adverse conditions. His point is that the America he grew up in with the opportunities he had is not the same America that my children are growing up in or will have. If necessary I can write a whole blog about the disparity between the working conditions for poor and middle class people in America in the 50's and 60s versus today but I can sum a basic issue up in a few words: unions assisted the middle class during those times and helped lift hundreds of thousands of people out of poverty during those decades. Since Ronald Reagan, the systematic attack on unions that persist to this day in addition to the globalization of the market place has eroded a lot of the gains the union movement made. As Jim Webb put it succinctly in a speech he gave
during the time we are discussing "the average corporate CEO made 20 times what the average worker did; today, it's nearly 400 times. In other words, it takes the average worker more than a year to make the money that his or her boss makes in one day." I hope the point is well made.
As to Elizabeth Edwards, read Saving Graces, then get back to me.
But if we stick to the issue about poverty, this topic deserves more discussion and warrants a separate article to outline thoroughly the information that you seek. So I will do that when I have time. please use this link as a resource for some information in the meantime. http://money.cnn.com/news/specials/poverty/
