Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich is running for president — again.
Kucinich said he was inspired to run because he disagrees with the way Democrats are handling the war:
"Democrats were swept into power on Nov. 7 because of widespread voter discontent with the war in Iraq," Kucinich said Monday. "Instead of heeding those concerns and responding with a strong and immediate change in policies and direction, the Democratic congressional leadership seems inclined to continue funding the perpetuation of the war."His previous presidential proposals have included a national peace department, canceling free trade policies he says hurt American jobs and a single-payer, universal health care system.
Kucinich joins 23 other possible 2008 candidates.

At least he's got fortitude.....
Greg.. oh he knows he won't get anywhere. The problem with "true believers" is that they honestly think that they can "send a message" by running for office. I suppose the virtue in this is that they do give their fellow travelers someplace to go to vent and they keep them out of the way of the real candidates.
an 'airhead' inspite of a redeeming quality or two. Too bad he cannot get in touch with the whacky self so many others see in him. He's a faux Don Quixote.
For instance, what is the problem with a Peace Department? It makes more sense to have a diplomatic arm of government than an aggressive one.
Where I live, so many of our good jobs have been lost to companies going outside our country the quality of life has declined. Significantly.
As far as universal health care, how can you argue with that? Even with my health insurance, I have debt due to co-pays and deductibles. I had to go without important medicine for two weeks before I could get the money to pay. What about those who work hard yet have not insurance?
These things Kucinich is calling for are Moral and they make a lot of sense.
