An American Apparel store’s decision to prominently display a pro-gay T-shirt has resulted in vandalism and death threats, a spokesperson for the chain told ABC 7 News.
Vandals smashed the windows at the Silver Spring American Apparel store, apparently upset over a display of T-shirts that read: “Legalize Gay” “Repeal Prop 8 Now!" The message refers to California’s Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the state.
There is a Chinese proverb that goes, "He who strikes the first blow admits he has lost the argument."
And so it proves true, in the actions of these vandals. Once we expose an inequality and begin righting it, there are going to be those who will try to defend the status quo and prevent its happening. It is by their actions that we know that what we’re doing is just and correct. The door has been opened to a new and better future, and try as they may, they will never be able to close it again.
In the last very few years, gays have made enormous progress toward liberty and freedom. Stay the course.

In fairness, the shirts didn't cause any problems - it was the reaction of the bigoted that caused the vandalism.

After the glass was repaired, the owner of the store put them right back in the window.
While being gay must have it's problems; dealing with ignorant bigots, I think if I had to be gay or someone who hates gays, I'd choose being gay. Those anti-gay people have far more problems, and most of theirs are internal.
