It was a site to behold. At least a thousand people showed up from this small community of 36,000 plus or minus, lining Main Street with placards and costumes supporting Obama. This was not a welcoming reception for John McCain. The black limos cruised by, McCain's head turned toward the Obama supporters. He was not smiling. The question everyone in town was asking, "Why Durango, a predominately blue communtiy." One of the few in Colorado, I might add. Several people surmised that he must be desperate.
Buses from Farmington and Pagosa Springs were loaded with people in support of McCain. There would never be enough supporters to fill the communtiy center if the Republicans counted on the locals to show up.
The following pictures speak volumes for the support this town has for Obama.

For the naysayers and those still stuck on the stump, I guarantee that in time, in due time, you will understand what's best for humans, individually and collectively.
And no, it's not Socialism that bequeaths such a wealth of progress; it is humanism, in which I am a proponent - a mainstay from the "High Renaissance."

I wonder how many of them voted for Reagan? The most partisan President in my lifetime.

Great photos Suzi, and I loved that email - ancient copy and paste, LOL.
Go Durango!!!!
Durango democrat for McCain!!
I was right there covering for several papers. The crowd was not mostly locals. Five busloads came in from Farmington, plus there were more NM plates than Colorado. Rafting buses and school buses came in mass from Pagosa Springs.
