Audrey died yesterday.

In an email my daughter said Audrey was fine in the morning, ate WELL and went out to do her usual daytime thing.
They live way out in the boonies and the cat wandered all the farmer's fields and brought home mice (dead ones) to show off to her family.
My daughter left for work with a premonition that Audrey was going to be hit by a car that day. When she arrived home her partner Peter was there to hold her and tell her Audrey was gone.

In her words:
Pete met me at the door said a neighbour left her in a box on the front porch with a nice note.
Linda (a neighbour and friend) told me this morning that a man went to all the neighbours to say the cat darted out under his wheel and he couldn't stop.
We think it was suicide.
We are going to bury her this afternoon.

Audrey was living with cancer. She had a tumor in her jaw. She was being watched by both her owners and the vet looking for pain or any discomfort.
Her days were numbered but everyone was enjoying her living and being pain free.
That is why the reference to Suicide came from.
It was mentioned with love, not judgement.
Thanks for your kind comments.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I am with Katie, bless the person that brought her home. I know that didn't happen with my goat and it still hurts so much.
